Nicasio (personal) is expected to miss his scheduled start Tuesday when the Pirates face the Giants, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nicasio was placed on the restricted list Saturday as he had to leave the team to tend to a family matter. The Pirates organization appears to be preparing as though Nicasio won't be back with the team in time to start Tuesday's game, which would leave a hole in the rotation. Wilfredo Boscan, who is slated to start at Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, is a candidate to come up for a spot start in Nicasio's place.

Nicasio was placed on the restricted list Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
According to MLB.com's Adam Berry, Nicasio is currently away from the team as he tends to a family issue. There is no word yet on when Nicasio will return to the club, but if he's not back by Tuesday, the Pirates will have to figure out who will start in his place against the Giants.

Nicasio gave up six runs in 4.1 innings Thursday, surrendering seven hits -- including three homers -- and two walks while striking out five batters.
EDGE Analysis
Left-handed hitters entered Thursday with an .886 OPS off Nicasio, who limited to New York to one run in five innings June 7. With an earned-run average of 5.83, there's little reason to consider starting the righty until he strings together a couple of solid outings. At some point soon, Pittsburgh will likely remove him from the starting rotation.

Nicasio is expected to start Thursday against the Mets, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran righty was initially penciled in as the Pirates' starter for Tuesday, but he was scratched in favor of the promising Jameson Taillon. However, Nicasio won't have to wait long to get back on the mound as he's set to start for the Pirates' series finale against the Mets.

Nicasio will not make his scheduled start Tuesday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Pirates GM Neal Huntington said Sunday that Nicasio would not start because of a 42-pitching outing Friday. The team gave no guidance as to when the righty would make his next start or even if he would stick in the rotation.

Nicasio (5-5) surrendered four hits, six earned runs and two walks over an inning in Friday's 9-3 extra-inning loss to the Cardinals. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old endured a nightmare in the 12th that seemed to never end, as he was stranded out there for 47 pitches, with the Pirates already having utilized a plethora of relievers before him. Nicasio was coming off an 89-pitch, five-inning outing versus the Mets on Tuesday, which netted his fifth victory of the season. He surrendered a pinch-hit double to fellow pitcher Adam Wainwright to open the floodgates, and then yielded an RBI double to Matt Adams, and eventually, a two-run homer to the red-hot Brandon Moss. The right-hander is still scheduled to take the mound again on Tuesday for his next scheduled start versus the Mets.

Nicasio improved to 5-4 with a win over the Mets on Tuesday, striking out seven and walking two over five innings of one-run ball.
EDGE Analysis
Nicasio put forth one of his best starts in recent memory despite being pulled after just 89 pitches, as nearly two thirds of those went for strikes, helping him reach seven punchouts for the second time this season. The 29-year-old has been up and down this season, but he has clearly been a better pitcher at home, where he has a 5-1 record to go along with a solid 3.24 ERA in six starts. His next start will come Tuesday at Citi Field versus the same Mets squad.

Updating a previous report: The Pirates announced that Monday's rained out game against the Mets will be made up in a doubleheader Tuesday, resulting in Nicasio getting the start for Game 2, Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shortly after Monday's game was postponed, Nicasio's Tuesday start was scheduled to be skipped before the doubleheader was ultimately agreed upon. Jon Niese will get the nod in Game 1.

Nicasio will have his start skipped in the wake of Monday's rainout, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nicasio recorded a quality start his last time out against Miami, but he had a brutal 6.75 ERA in May. As such, the Pirates will opt to skip Nicasio's scheduled Tuesday start and go with Jon Niese and Francisco Liriano for the remainder of the series Tuesday and Wednesday.

Nicasio went six innings against Miami on Thursday, and allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
Nicasio did just enough to keep his team on the game, but all signs point towards him being out of the rotation as soon as Pittsburgh promotes one of their pitching prospects. Nicasio struggled to the tune of a 6.75 ERA during May, but this start was clearly a step in the right direction, as he allowed less than four runs for the first time since April 29. His next scheduled start is slated for Tuesday at home against the Mets.
