New York Mets right-hander J.T. Ginn has been promoted from Single-A St. Lucie to High-A Brooklyn and will make his debut with Brooklyn on Saturday. The team's No. 2 pitching prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, went 2-1 with a 2.56 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, 35 strikeouts and 10 walks in 38 2/3 innings spanning eight starts with St. Lucie before the promotion. The New York Mets signed second-rounder J.T. Ginn (52nd overall) to a contract worth $2.9 million on Monday. The Mississippi State right-handed pitcher signed for well over the slot value of the 52nd overall pick at $1.403 million. Ginn has nasty stuff, including a 91-97 mph fastball and a wipeout slider, but he underwent Tommy John surgery in March and will get a late start to his professional career.
