Thole may get squeezed from the Jays' roster if the team ends up keeping Dioner Navarro, Sportsnet.ca reports. The Jays don't want to keep more than two catchers, but another factor in Thole having a roster spot may be Russell Martin's ability to catch knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. Nevertheless, a trade involving Navarro would go a long way toward providing Thole with job security.

The Blue Jays exercised the 2015 club option for Thole, SportsNet's Shi Davidi reports. Defensively, Thole is a fine backup catcher, but he hit .248 with zero home runs in 150 plate appearances last year and is a very low-end option in fantasy.

Thole went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's win over Milwaukee. Sporadic playing time continues to be the norm for Thole, who often finds a spot start when R.A. Dickey is on the hill and Dioner Navarro is in need of a day off.

Josh Thole went 2-for-2 with a double and two walks Wednesday versus the Red Sox. Even though Thole only gets to play while R.A. Dickey is pitching, he's managed to stay sharp enough to hit .282 in 85 at-bats this season, albeit without any power at all (three doubles, no triples and no homers). Since the beginning of June, he's started exactly one game in which he wasn't paired with Dickey, and he was removed after two at-bats in that one.

Josh Thole went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored against the Orioles on Wednesday. Thole had four of the Blue Jays' 15 hits on the night, singling in a run in the third inning. The catcher had just three hits in the month of September coming into the game, and he's hitting just .179/.258/.250 for the year.

Josh Thole went 1-for-3 with his first home run of the season against the Yankees on Wednesday. Thole has been an offensive black hole this season, batting .146/.255/.232 in 82 at-bats. The home run was his first this season, giving him six RBI. The only thing that keeps him in the lineup on a semi-regular basis is his ability to catch R.A. Dickey's knuckleball.

Blue Jays recalled C Josh Thole from Triple-A Buffalo. The Jays decided to go with Henry Blanco as their backup catcher going into the season, but now they've flip-flopped. He was hitting .322/.383/.510 with seven homers at Buffalo and should serve as R.A. Dickey's personal catcher.

Blue Jays optioned C Josh Thole to Triple-A Buffalo. It means that Henry Blanco has won the backup job to J.P. Arencibia. It was expected that Thole would serve as R.A. Dickey's personal catcher, but the Blue Jays will instead look to stash him in the minors. He batted just .156/.229/.281 in 35 plate appearances this spring.

Josh Thole went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts against the Astros on Sunday and is hitting .115 this spring. Thole has to be very frustrated with his situation after going from starting catcher in New York to likely Triple-A backstop with the Blue Jays. He's 3-for-26 with one RBI in 15 games.
