Thole went 0-for-3 with an RBI, his seventh of the season, in Tuesday's win over the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Making his routine spot start behind the plate with knuckleballer R.A. Dickey on the hill, Thole's third straight hitless effort lowered his batting average to a measly .151 on the season. The left-hand hitting catcher's splits have been equally as disappointing, as Thole's hitting .156 in 32 at-bats against southpaws, and .149 in 74 at-bats versus righties.

Thole went 0-for-2 and scored a run in Monday's game against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Monday marked just the third time this season in which Thole started consecutive games for the Jays. Although the catcher's fantasy value is extremely limited, Thole has paid dividends to daily players that have rolled him out there in recent weeks. Over his last nine starts, Thole has seven hits, five RBI, three runs and three walks. These numbers don't exactly light up the scoreboard, but they are more than serviceable for a player who comes in at the bottom of the salary scale in daily formats.

Thole went 2-for-3 with a two-RBI double in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the A's.
EDGE Analysis
The reserve catcher enjoyed some rare success at the plate, opening the scoring on the day by plating Troy Tulowitzki and Darwin Barney with a two-bagger to deep right field in the third. Thole now has back-to-back multi-hit and RBI efforts, and is slashing .333/.385/.417 over 12 at-bats in July.

Thole struggled in his limited playing time during the first half of the season, hitting a measly .141 with just one extra-base hit in 78 at-bats.
EDGE Analysis
The fact that Russell Martin was disgustingly awful for the first two-plus months of the season, and Thole still didn't receive extra playing time, tells you all you need to know about his fantasy value. If not for being knuckleballer R.A. Dickey's personal catcher, it's very unlikely that Thole would still be wearing a big league uniform with the way his season has gone.

Thole went 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
He continues to get a start or two a week as R.A. Dickey's personal catcher, but Thole's .141/.239/.179 slash line on the season tells you all you need to know about his fantasy value.

Thole went 2-for-4 with a walk Wednesday against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Thole made the most of his unusual spot-start for Russell Martin (rest). Typically, Thole only catches knuckleballer R.A. Dickey, but recently manager John Gibbons has decided to give the 33-year-old Martin rest more routinely. Entering Wednesday's game, Thole had amassed just two hits since April 26. Even if given the opportunity to play more often, Thole holds little to no value in most leagues.

Thole is hitting just .130/.216/.196 in 46 at-bats this season.
EDGE Analysis
The truth is that the left-hand-hitting catcher is only on the big league squad because he's R.A. Dickey's personal catcher. Thole isn't even an option off the bench for manager John Gibbons when in need of a pinch hitter. Unless you are looking for a minimum-salary catcher in DFS once a week, Thole brings little to no value in practically all formats.

Despite his struggles, Thole is unlikely to be demoted as long as R.A. Dickey remains on the roster, Baseball Prospectus reports.
EDGE Analysis
Many in Toronto's fanbase have called for an upgrade at the backup spot to Russell Martin. But even with Dickey having had his typically putrid April, the knuckleballer is unlikely to go anywhere -- meaning Thole isn't going anywhere either. The 29-year-old should be deployed merely as a punt-play when Dickey is on the hill.

After the game, Thole took responsibility for Wednesday's walk-off loss to the Orioles that ended on a pass ball in extra innings, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The passed ball came with Rule 5 pick Joe Biagini on the mound for Toronto. He went out of his way to protect the young reliever by taking responsibility for getting crossed up. It was a frustrating end to an otherwise solid game from the backup catcher who only plays when R.A. Dickey gets the start.

Manager John Gibbons said Thole will catch most of R.A. Dickey's starts this season, CBC Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old catcher has been with the Blue Jays since 2013, but has never played more than 57 games in a year -- he only played 18 in 2015 due to injuries and a backlog at the position. However, because of his ability to catch Dickey's knuckleball, and the rest needed by 33-year-old Russell Martin, Thole may be in line for an increased workload this season. He may be worth a look in daily leagues due to the fact he'll be part of the most potent offense in baseball.
