Phegley (fingers) went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts as the designated hitter in a rehab game with High-A Stockton on Tuesday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was the first taste of game action for Phegley since fracturing two fingers on his right hand during a split-squad game against the Mariners in spring training. The veteran backstop is scheduled for another game with the Ports on Wednesday before his rehab assignment shifts to Triple-A Nashville.

Phegley (finger) will begin a rehab assignment at High-A Stockton on Tuesday, Melissa Lockard of The Athletic San Francisco reports.
EDGE Analysis
Phegley looks to be nearing his activation from the disabled list, as he's expected to play two games with Stockton. However, with Bruce Maxwell serving as Oakland's reserve backstop, it remains to be seen if Phegley will join the big club once he returns to full health.

Phegley (fingers) practiced hitting off a tee and caught bullpen sessions Monday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Monday's workout marked Phegley's first baseball activities since fracturing two fingers on his right hand during spring training. However, although his condition is improving, it's unclear if Phegley will return to Oakland once he's back in full health, as Jonathan Lucroy is serving as the team's starting backstop while Bruce Maxwell is occupying the reserve spot.

An X-ray on Phegley's broken pinkie showed it's healing well, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is a positive step for Phegley, who is working his way back from a pair of fractured fingers he suffered earlier in March. The backstop still hasn't been able to swing a bat yet, but he's able to play catch. A possible return date should come into focus once he ramps up his baseball activities. With the addition of Jonathan Lucroy late in camp, Phegley is not guaranteed to stick with the big club once activated.

The Athletics placed Phegley (fingers) on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Phegley's hopes of cracking the Opening Day roster ended after he fractured two fingers on his right hand in a Cactus League game last week. With the Athletics' late-spring addition of Jonathan Lucroy to their catcher ranks, there may not be room for Phegley on the active roster once the 30-year-old is healthy again. Phegley had already entered spring training second on the depth chart behind Bruce Maxwell, who now checks in as Lucroy's backup.

Phegley fractured the ring and index fingers on his right hand in Saturday's split-squad game against the Mariners and will be held out of baseball activities for at least two weeks, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury doesn't really alter Phegley's outlook for the start of the season, as he wasn't in line to crack the Opening Day roster following the Athletics' recent signing of Jonathan Lucroy. Phegley has a minor-league option remaining, so he'll likely be assigned to Triple-A Nashville once he's cleared to return from the 10-day disabled list.

Phegley appears likely to open the year at Triple-A Nashville after the A's agreed to a one-year deal with Jonathan Lucroy on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Like Phegley, Lucroy bats right-handed and has better career splits against lefties than righties, so it seems logical that Phegley will be the odd man out while Lucroy splits time with Bruce Maxwell. Phegley was already a very fringe option at the position, even in deep leagues, and now he moves even further down the rankings at fantasy baseball's most desolate position.

Phegley agreed to a one-year deal with Oakland on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This was the first offseason he was an arbitration-eligible player. In 2017, Phegley slashed .201/.255/.336 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 57 games, and should continue serving on the short-end of the catching platoon with Bruce Maxwell during the 2018 campaign.

Phegley, who went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Mariners, is hitting just .200 over 25 plate appearances across over nine games since returning from the disabled list on Sept. 1.
EDGE Analysis
Phegley missed just over a month with an oblique injury and is just 4-for-20 with two doubles, three RBI, four walks and two runs since returning. The 29-year-old backstop's struggles at the dish haven't just been limited to September, however, as his season average (.204) is a career low, while his OBP (.258) and slugging (.340) are both his lowest figures during his three campaigns in Oakland.

Phegley (oblique) was activated from the disabled list Friday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Phegley is back at full strength, having caught nine full innings with Triple-A Nashville on several occasions in recent weeks. He has struggled to a .205/.246/.346 line in the majors this season, but Dustin Garneau has been even worse since joining Oakland, so it seems likely that Phegley will return to his normal platoon role behind the plate in Oakland.
