Lowe was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday after Randy Arozarena (personal) was placed on the paternity list, and he'll make his major-league debut in right field. The 23-year-old isn't guaranteed a spot on the active roster once Arozarena returns, but he'll get a chance to make an impact at the top level in the near future.

The Rays called up Lowe from Triple-A Durham ahead of Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, though he may not be up in the big leagues for long, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

One of the best outfield prospects in the game, the 6-foot-4 lefty hitter has plus power, plus speed and plays excellent defense. He hit .282/.369/.540 with 21 home runs, 24 steals, a 26.7 percent strikeout rate and a 12.4 percent walk rate in 98 games for Durham. While Lowe's skillset is very exciting for fantasy, his situation is not. The Rays already have Austin Meadows, Randy Arozarena, Kevin Kiermaier, Manuel Margot and Jordan Luplow as healthy outfield options while Nelson Cruz clogs the designated hitter spot. Passan's note that Lowe might not be up for long is not a guarantee, but it's hard to see how he would play more than a few times per week as things stand.

Lowe hit a walkoff two-run homer for Triple-A Durham on Thursday and is now batting .275/.353/.552 with 20 homers and 19 steals across 83 games this season.

EDGE Analysis

That marked his third straight game with a homer, and he's actually gone four consecutive games without a strikeout -- a positive sign, as Lowe has whiffed fairly prolifically throughout his career in the minors. He may never hit for great average, but Lowe's homers and steals should make him a valuable fantasy asset once he finds his way to the majors -- whenever that may be.

Lowe is hitting .290/.362/.518 with nine homers, 12 steals, 33 RBI and 32 runs for Triple-A Durham.

EDGE Analysis

It's hard to find many flaws in what Lowe's done this season, as the 23-year-old has improved both his power production and his base-stealing efficiency -- he hasn't been caught a single time. Though he may get lost a bit among all the Rays' big-name prospects, Lowe has an exciting skill set for fantasy purposes. Even better, with only the light-hitting Kevin Kiermaier standing in his way, it seems like only a matter of time before Lowe is patrolling center field in Tampa.

The 2016 first-round pick will likely open the 2021 campaign at Triple-A Durham after posting a .783 OPS while stealing 30 bases in 121 games with Double-A Montgomery in his last minor-league season in 2019. The 23-year-old boasts an intriguing combination of speed and power from the left side of the plate, and his ability to play a solid center field could make him a candidate to fill a full-time role for the Rays this season if the team decides to trade away veteran Kevin Kiermaier at some point.

The 22-year-old is most likely to eventually be included in the reserve pool of up to 30 players that will continue to train at a separate location once the regular season begins.

Lowe went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs and a walk Sunday in Double-A Montgomery's 7-6 loss to Mississippi.

EDGE Analysis

The 21-year-old went yard twice in a game for the first time in his minor-league career, with both of his long balls coming off Braves prospect Joey Wentz. Lowe owns a .321/.418/.661 slash line through his first 15 games in the Southern League and could get the opportunity to join brother Nate at Triple-A Durham in the second half of the campaign.
