Texas Rangers chief executive officer and president President Nolan Ryan was hospitalized in Houston Monday after experiencing chest discomfort Sunday at his home in Georgetown, Texas. In April, 2000 Ryan underwent a double coronary bypass. He is scheduled to undergo tests for what is believed to be a recurrence of the same heart condition. Ryan's family has a history of heart ailments. The Rangers said that Ryan is resting and feeling better. He is expected to be released from the hospital in the next few days.

Josh Hamilton hit a walkoff homer Saturday as the Rangers came from behind to beat the A's 7-6. The two-run shot in the bottom of the ninth was the first homer allowed by A's closer Andrew Bailey in 15 innings this season. Hamilton ended the game with four hits, two of them doubles, and three RBI. He's playing with a heavy heart, but the high emotions haven't caused him problems in the batter's box.

Hamilton said during a radio appearance Thursday that he was having trouble picking up the ball, something he attributed to having blue eyes. He is batting just .122 with zero homers and 17 strikeouts over 49 at-bats in day games this season, so hopefully this will make a difference.
