Josh Donaldson went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Thursday's loss to the Tigers. Donaldson had an incredible year, but he did very little in the ALDS, batting just .143/.182/.143 with no extra-base hits and a 1/8 BB/K ratio. The A's managed just three hits against Justin Verlander and Joaquin Benoit, falling in the fifth game of the division series yet again.

The third baseman won't win the MVP award, but he's generated deserved buzz by slashing .304/.384/.506 with 89 RBI.

Josh Donaldson led the A's offensive attack in Friday's 9-8 victory over the Rangers, going 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI. Donaldson also walked twice, doubled and scored a pair of runs in the game. His solo homer off Derek Holland in the third inning was one of three A's long balls in the game, joined by Yoenis Cespedes and Brandon Moss. He's been one of the biggest factors in the A's success this season, hitting .301/.379/.503 with 22 homers, 87 RBI and four stolen bases.

Donaldson has shown that his strong first half was no fluke by shaking off a July slip to hit .293 with five homers and 20 RBI since the beginning of August. Maybe he's no better than the AL's fourth best third baseman, but he's going to deserve some down-ballot MVP votes this year.

The third baseman batted just .233 with three homers and eight RBI in July, but he'd picked it up in a major way until going 1-for-13 over his last three games. Batting .292, Donaldson has collected 19 homers, 74 RBI and three steals in 127 games.

Josh Donaldson went 0-for-4 with a strikeout against the Mariners on Wednesday. Donaldson had collected at least one RBI in four straight games entering the day. The third baseman batted just .233 with three homers and eight RBI in July, but came into today's game slashing .300/.391/.467 over 60 August at-bats. Hitting .295, Donaldson is on pace for 23 homers and 91 RBI.

Josh Donaldson went 2-for-4 and hit his 17th homer against the Reds on Wednesday. Donaldson was hitting .186 with no RBI since the All-Star break before taking Homer Bailey deep today. He later added an RBI single. Donaldson and the rest of the Oakland offense could get untracked over the next week; seven games against the Blue Jays and Astros will help.

Josh Donaldson hasn't driven in a run in the second half. He's hitting a weak .196/.339/.217 with one double, no homers, no RBI and four runs scored over 56 plate appearances. Conversely, Donaldson hit .310 with 16 homers and 61 RBI prior to the All-Star break. His average has dropped to .297. "I think I'm starting to get it back again," Donaldson said after he collected two hits on Wednesday.

Josh Donaldson went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, and a walk Saturday against the Royals. Donaldson had an RBI single in the third inning and connected for a solo homer in the sixth. The 27-year-old has exceeded all expectations this season by batting .317/.385/.533 with 15 home runs and 57 RBI. While the third base position is chock full of excellent candidates, Donaldson is plenty worthy of representing the American League in the All-Star Game this month.
