Suarez picked up the save Monday against Washington. He allowed five hits and no walks while striking out two over three scoreless innings.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez came in to handle the final three innings Monday, locking down his first save of the year. The southpaw hasn't logged a ton of big-league action, but he's been effective when used, working to a 1.96 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 18.1 innings across six appearances (one start).

Suarez (2-0) picked up the win in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Nationals, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out nine.
EDGE Analysis
The nine Ks were a career high for Suarez, who was making his first big-league start of the season and first MLB appearance since April 10. The 27-year-old southpaw missed over two months this summer in the minors with an undisclosed injury, but in four appearances with Triple-A Gwinnett after being activated from the 7-day IL in late August he posted a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 23:6 K:BB over 20 innings, and he carried that momentum with him to the majors after his promotion. Suarez was originally brought up for a spot start in the twin bill, but after racking up a massive 21 swinging strikes on 99 pitches (65 total strikes) against the Nats, he may have earned one more turn through the rotation before the end of the season. Atlanta hasn't indicated whether its pitching plans will get shuffled to accommodate him, but with days off coming each of the last two Thursdays in September, the team has plenty of flexibility.

Atlanta selected Suarez's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez will make a spot start Tuesday in the first game of a doubleheader against the Nationals. The left-hander has pitched well lately at Gwinnett, posting a 2.70 ERA and 23:6 K:BB over 20 innings covering his last four starts. Suarez could be sent back down to Gwinnett after Tuesday's start.

Suarez will have his contract selected from Double-A Columbus to start Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against Washington, Barrett Sallee of 680 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tuesday will mark Suarez's first big-league start since the 2024 campaign, which he spent with the Angels. He made three relief appearances for Atlanta earlier this year, surrendering two runs on three hits and seven walks while striking out five over 7.1 innings. Suarez last worked five innings Wednesday against Triple-A Nashville, so he should be stretched out to make a traditional start in Game 1.

Atlanta outrighted Suarez to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez has been outrighted before, so he can elect free agency if he wants. The left-hander was removed from Atlanta's 40-man roster after allowing three runs (two earned) with a 5:7 K:BB over 7.1 relief innings with the big club.

Suarez was designated for assignment by Atlanta on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez will now be placed on waivers by Atlanta after producing a 2.45 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with five strikeouts over 7.1 innings in three appearances out of the bullpen. If he clears waivers, he'll either be outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett or released by the team, or he could elect free agency. The transaction makes room for Scott Blewett on Atlanta's 40-man roster after the team traded to get Blewett from the Orioles on Sunday.

Suarez was acquired by Atlanta from the Angels on Sunday in exchange for right-hander Ian Anderson, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez made 99 appearances for the Angels since making his MLB debut in 2019, but he'll now continue his career in Atlanta. The left-hander started in three of his 22 outings last year and had a 6.02 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 56:27 K:BB over 52.1 innings. He'll likely fill a long-relief role with his new team, assuming he even sticks on the big-league roster.

Suarez is expected to take on a long-relief role to open 2025, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez has ample big-league experience as a starter, but he came out of the bullpen for 19 of his 22 outings last season. He wasn't very effective overall, as he registered an ugly 6.02 ERA and 1.61 WHIP across 52.1 frames, though he fared decently well in two starts at the end of the campaign, allowing three earned runs and posting a 10:4 K:BB over 10 innings. Nonetheless, there isn't likely to be room for Suarez to compete for a rotation role to begin 2025, as the Angels' first four spots are likely locked up and a number of more attractive options are set to compete for the fifth-starter role. As such, the lefty appears most likely to function in long relief, which further diminishes his already minuscule fantasy value.

Suarez signed a one-year contract with the Angels on Friday to avoid arbitration, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
By signing to a one-year deal Friday, Suarez will remain with the Angels for a seventh season. Across 22 major-league outings in 2024, Suarez posted a 6.02 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 56:27 K:BB across 52.1 innings.

Suarez allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five batters over five innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
All of Chicago's runs against Suarez came via the long ball -- the left-hander gave up a two-run shot to Korey Lee in the second inning and a solo blast to Lenyn Sosa in the fourth. It was the first time this season Suarez has given up multiple homers in an outing. That's partly due to the fact that he's spent much of the campaign as a reliever, though he came into Wednesday having yielded just two long balls over his past 36 frames. Suarez returned Sept. 9 from an extended stay on the injured list and had held his opponents without an earned run over 13 frames prior to giving up Lee's second-inning blast Wednesday.
