Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette said Sunday that while Jonathan Schoop is an option at second base, that he is likely to begin the season at Triple-A. Duquette explained, "He probably could benefit from more experience before he's called on to be an everyday player in the big leagues." The 22-year-old slashed .278/.330/.460 with 14 homers and 52 RBI in 81 minor league games in 2013. He's unlikely to garner enough playing time to become an impact fantasy contributor in 2014.

Jonathan Schoop went 2-for-3 with a home run and three runs scored in the Orioles' 9-5 win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday. Making his major league debut, the 21-year-old didn't disappoint. He scored on Ryan Flaherty home runs in the third and eighth innings, and he also hit a homer of his own in the sixth. Owners in keeper or dynasty leagues shouldn't go crazy on one game, but the performance offered a glimpse of what he's capable of in the future. He'll be a name to watch as early as next season.

Jonathan Schoop will make his major league debut at second base Wednesday against the Blue Jays. The O's were eliminated from the playoff race Tuesday, so they are ready to give Schoop a look. The 21-year-old batted .256/.301/.396 with nine home runs in 70 games this season in Triple-A.

Orioles recalled 2B Jonathan Schoop from Triple-A Norfolk. Schoop will play behind Brian Roberts this season, but is the Orioes' second baseman of the future. He's fully recovered from a back injury that sidelined him through July and batted .256/.301/.396 with nine home runs at the Triple-A level.

The Orioles will call up infielder Jonathan Schoop, outfielder Henry Urrutia and right-hander Josh Stinson on Tuesday. They'll join the Orioles now that Triple-A Norfolk has missed the playoffs. Urrutia and Stinson have already played with the big club this season, but Schoop will be getting his first taste of the majors.

Jonathan Schoop (back) went 4-for-5 with two home runs and seven RBI on Thursday in his final rehab game with Short-Season Aberdeen. The 21-year-old second baseman is ready to rejoin Triple-A Norfolk after missing over two months with a stress fracture in his back. Schoop tore the cover off the ball during his 11-game rehab assignment, batting .436 (17-for-39) with five home runs, 17 RBI and 7/7 K/BB. Prior to the injury, he was batting .268/.331/.386 with nine extra-base hits and 25/9 K/BB in 34 games for Norfolk. Even though he's missed significant time this year, Schoop could still find himself in the major leagues by the end of the season.

Jonathan Schoop (back) is scheduled to begin playing in rehab games on Thursday. Schoop has been on the minor league disabled list since mid-May because of a stress fracture in his back. He'll get started at the Orioles' Gulf Coast League affiliate before eventually working his way back up to Norfolk. The 21-year-old infielder could reach the major league level at some point later this season.

Jonathan Schoop has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his back and will need 6-8 weeks of rest. Schoop will meet with another doctor later this week for a second opinion, but it seems doubtful that the diagnosis will change. The 21-year-old infielder was batting .268/.331/.386 with three homers and 18 RBI in 34 games at the Triple-A level. It is no longer a certainty that he will reach the major leagues this season.
