Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star writes that Jonathan Sanchez is currently battling biceps tendinitis.
Sanchez surrendered six runs over three innings against the Red Sox in his most recent start on Monday and now has a 6.75 ERA on the year. Dutton speculates that he could be placed on the disabled list when Johnny Giavotella is added to the active roster. Luis Mendoza would likely move back to the starting rotation in that case.

Jonathan Sanchez was lit up by the Red Sox Monday, yielding six runs on six hits and three walks over just three innings.
It's arguably Sanchez's ugliest outing yet, though a case can certainly be made for his seven-walk performance back on April 24. The enigmatic southpaw has been a disaster to this point in his Royals career, holding a 6.75 ERA and 1.86 WHIP through six outings. He'll try to right the ship this weekend against the White Sox.

Jonathan Sanchez struggled with his control against the Indians on Tuesday, walking seven and allowing four runs on four hits in just 4 2/3 innings.
Sanchez struck out five, but couldn't find the plate for most of the game. He needed 115 pitches and still couldn't make it out of the fifth inning. The loss was the Royals 12th in a row, and evens Sanchez' record at 1-1, though he owns an inflated 6.75 ERA. He'll attempt to get back on track when he battles the Twins on Sunday.

Jonathan Sanchez struggled mightily in his second start as a Royal on Saturday, allowing five runs on six hits in in just 2 2/3 innings against the Indians.
Sanchez cruised through the first 2 1/3 innings before allowing seven consecutive Indians to reach in the third. He walked four and hit a batter while striking out one in the short outing. The lefty will attempt to get things back on track when he takes on the Blue Jays next week.

Jonathan Sanchez had a decent Royals debut against the Angels Sunday, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks in five innings of Kansas City's 7-3 win.
Sanchez struck out four as he picked up the win. Not a bad afternoon, but not exactly scintillating, as Sanchez required 99 pitches to tally his 15 outs. Coming off a poor 2011 and nightmarish spring, Sanchez isn't yet an every-outing starter in mixed leagues.

Jonathan Sanchez was shaky in his spring debut Wednesday, giving up four runs -- three earned -- on four hits and a strikeout over just one inning against the Cubs.
At least he didn't walk anyone. The Royals are counting on Sanchez providing some much-needed stability to their rotation this season, and while he does have plenty of upside, he's been anything but stable during his career. We're expecting plenty of ups and down from him again in 2012.

Royals and LHP Jonathan Sanchez avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $5.6 million contract.
Sanchez, who was acquired from the Giants as part of the Melky Cabrera trade in November, earned $4.8 million last season while posting a disappointing 4.26 ERA and 102/66 K/BB ratio over 101 1/3 innings. The 29-year-old southpaw can become a free agent next offseason.

Royals acquired LHP Jonathan Sanchez and LHP Ryan Verdugo from the Giants for OF Melky Cabrera.
It was only one year ago that Sanchez registered a 3.07 ERA and 205 strikeouts in 193 1/3 innings for the World Series champion Giants. His other seasons have been rather pedestrian, but the 28-year-old southpaw has the ability to improve the Royals' starting rotation significantly. He's set to earn around $6 million in 2012 via salary arbitration.

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Giants are willing to trade Jonathan Sanchez this offseason.
The Giants have resisted dealing from their stockpile of pitching in an effort to add a hitter, but evidently they've reached a point where they feel a move might now be necessary. They'd be selling low on Sanchez, as he fell back to a 4.26 ERA and 1.44 WHIP this season and ended the year with an ankle injury. But, he's also slated to earn around $6 million in his final year of arbitration before becoming a free agent, so if they're going to barter him, now might be the time. Teams interested in the 29-year-old would be hoping he could recapture the form he displayed in 2010, when he posted a 3.07 ERA while piling up 205 strikeouts.
