Royals and LHP Jonathan Sanchez avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $5.6 million contract. Sanchez, who was acquired from the Giants as part of the Melky Cabrera trade in November, earned $4.8 million last season while posting a disappointing 4.26 ERA and 102/66 K/BB ratio over 101 1/3 innings. The 29-year-old southpaw can become a free agent next offseason.
