Jon Jay received an injection in his right shoulder Monday to alleviate discomfort. Jay was diagnosed with a partial separation of his shoulder following an MRI exam on Monday. There's no structural damage and a shoulder separation is considered far less serious than a dislocation, but it's unlikely he'll be available to hit until this weekend. Shane Robinson, Skip Schumaker and Erik Komatsu will continue to share playing time in center field.

An MRI taken Monday on Jon Jay's right shoulder did not show any structural damage. Jay has been cleared to join the Cardinals in Chicago and could return to the starting lineup at some point this week. The 27-year-old center fielder suffered a shoulder bruise after banging into the outfield wall in Thursday afternoon's loss to the Reds. Shane Robinson, Skip Schumaker and Erik Komatsu have been filling in.

Jon Jay will fly back to St. Louis to undergo tests on his right shoulder. Jay experienced renewed discomfort in his right shoulder while taking batting practice Sunday morning. We'll update his status once the results of the exam are known, but a stint on the disabled list is becoming likelier by the day. Shane Robinson is getting another start in center field Sunday.

Jon Jay said his right shoulder feels better Friday and he thinks it will be just a short-term injury. Good news for the Cardinals, who have been hit with a few injuries recently. Jay isn't playing Friday, but there was no structural damage found in his shoulder and it sounds like he could return to action soon. Skip Schumaker is starting in center field Friday.

Updating a previous item, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak conceded Thursday that a roster move might be needed now that Jon Jay is sidelined with a sprained right shoulder. Jay was initially considered day-to-day, but he left the clubhouse Thursday with his arm in a sling and admitted that he was dealing with some pain and soreness. Erik Komatsu took his place in Thursday's game and Carlos Beltran has previously been discussed as an option for center field, but it's possible the Cards could rush Skip Schumaker (oblique) back from his minor league rehab assignment if Jay's condition doesn't improve in the next day or two.

B.J. Rains of FOX Sports Midwest notes that Jon Jay left the clubhouse Thursday with his right arm in a sling. Jay left Thursday's game after running into the center field wall and suffering a sprained right shoulder. He's dealing with a little pain and soreness, but the good news is that X-rays came back negative. Consider him day-to-day.

Jon Jay was forced from Thursday's game against the Reds with a sprained right shoulder, and is day-to-day. Jay recklessly careened into the center-field wall chasing after a no doubt Drew Stubbs home run in the seventh, though he didn't appear to be seriously injured coming off the field. He's likely truly day-to-day, but probably won't be in Friday's lineup against the Pirates. A 27-year-old workhorse who appeared in 159 games last season, the Cardinals can ill afford a long-term injury to their second-youngest starter with so many injury-prone veterans in tow.

Jon Jay belted a two-run homer off the Reds' Johnny Cueto in a loss Wednesday. The jack to center field put the Cardinals up 3-0 at the time, but the Reds scored four unanswered runs to salvage a game in the series. Jay is now batting .304 early on, with hits in five of six starts.

Jon Jay has a hit in all three games he's played. Jay was given a day off Sunday against the Brewers but should be back in the Cardinals' starting lineup on Monday night in Cincinnati. The 27-year-old center fielder doesn't have enough power or speed to deserve fantasy consideration, but he's developed into a fine everyday major leaguer.
