Jon Jay is batting leadoff for the Cardinals in Sunday's NLCS Game 1 against the Giants. The Cardinals are going with the same lineup they used throughout the NLDS. Jon Jay went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Astros. Jay also scored one of the Cardinals' four runs. He's fallen back a little bit after his red-hot August, but Jay is still sporting a .301 batting mark and now has 19 stolen bases. He's solidified the leadoff spot for the Cards.

Jon Jay had a nice day in Friday's extra-inning loss to the Cubs, going 2-for-6 with a double and a run scored. He's done a nice job hitting atop the Cardinals' lineup this season, hitting .308 with four homers, 34 RBI and 18 stolen bases. He's positioned himself strongly to open the 2013 season as their regular center fielder.

Jon Jay went 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in a win over the Giants on Monday. All four hits were singles. His two-run single in the bottom of the seventh busted the game open. Jay has struggled quite a bit since returning from the disabled list in late June and figures to sit against lefties, but he can help in deeper mixed formats when he's hot.

Jon Jay filled up the box score in Thursday's loss to the Rockies, going 2-for-4 with a triple, run scored, RBI and stolen base. Between Jay, Carlos Beltran, Allen Craig, Matt Holliday and Lance Berkman, the Cardinals have five bats for four lineup spots. While it's troubling for fantasy owners to see their primary offensive weapons sitting occasionally, it's a great problem for the Cardinals to have. Jay is enjoying a solid all-around season, hitting .287 with two homers, 19 RBI and 11 stolen bases over 216 at-bats.

Cardinals activated OF Jon Jay from the 15-day disabled list. Jay need just two rehab games for Triple-A Memphis, as he went 3-for-8 with a triple and a home run to convince the team he was ready. He'll resume his starting role in center field and is worthy of being re-inserted into deep mixed league lineups.

Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch said on 590 The Fan Friday that he expects Jon Jay (shoulder) and Matt Carpenter (oblique) to be activated for the start of the weekend series in Kansas City. It was assumed that Carpenter would be ready, but Jay was a little more uncertain because he has missed more time and had fewer rehab at-bats. He's showed he's healthy in a two-game stint with Triple-A Memphis, though, going 3-for-8 with a triple and a home run. He'll regain his starting job in center field, while Carpenter will see plenty of playing time at first base and in the outfield. Matt Adams and Adron Chambers are expected to be sent down.

Jon Jay (shoulder) went 1-for-3 with a single Tuesday in his first minor league rehab game with Triple-A Memphis. He also played five innings in center field. Jay is currently working his way back from a shoulder sprain which he originally suffered in mid-April. Barring any setbacks, he should be back in the Cardinals' lineup in the next week or so.

Jon Jay (shoulder) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment Wednesday at Triple-A Memphis. Jay was able to take batting practice and run the bases over the weekend, and has been cleared to begin appearing in minor league games. The 27-year-old center fielder was placed on the disabled list in mid-May with a shoulder sprain. He was batting .343/.395/.438 in 27 games before the sudden injury, and should be back in the Cards' starting lineup before the end of June.

Jon Jay (shoulder) remains limited in his baseball-related activities. It's not clear what all Jay is able to do right now, but it's clear that he's not close to returning to the lineup. The Cardinals will continue to use the uninspiring duo of Shane Robinson and Adron Chambers in center field until Jay is ready.
