Jon Jay (shoulder) remains without a timetable. Jay has said he experienced ''improved range of motion'' on Saturday, but stopped short or offering an ETA for his return to the Cardinals. We likely won't see him until at least mid-June, and possibly later.

Jon Jay (shoulder) will be shut down for the next 7-10 days. The good news is that a specialist didn't find any additional problems with his shoulder. But, it's still giving him problems, so the Cardinals will give Jay some more rest before re-evaluating him. Jay had hoped to be activated early next week, but now we won't see him until at least mid-June.

Jon Jay (shoulder) will take batting practice in extended spring training Monday. If that goes well, he'll begin what figures to be a short rehab assignment. Jay is eligible for activation from the disabled list on Wednesday and could be ready at that time or shortly after.

Jon Jay (shoulder) hit off a tee and did some soft toss before Friday's game. It was his first workout since being placed on the disabled list with a right shoulder sprain earlier this month. The Cardinals are hopeful that he'll be ready to return when he's first eligible on May 30.

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said he's hopeful that Jon Jay (shoulder) will be ready for activation from the disabled list when first eligible on May 30. Jay has yet to perform any baseball-related activities, so it would seem to be a longshot that he'll be ready in five days. But, Matheny's optimism must mean the outfielder is feeling better. It's not clear if Jay will require a short rehab assignment before returning.

Jon Jay's (shoulder) rehab work has been limited to physical therapy thus far. The outfielder has yet to resume any baseball-related activities and wouldn't offer an estimate on when he'll return. He's eligible for activation on May 30, but it doesn't sound like he'll be ready at that point unless he sees a major improvement soon.

Cardinals placed OF Jon Jay on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder sprain. Jay initially injured the shoulder in late April, but he has experienced continued discomfort over the past week. The Cardinals are hopeful his condition will improve with an extended period of rest. Skip Schumaker, who is in the starting lineup Tuesday, figures to share playing time with Shane Robinson in center field for now.

Jon Jay (shoulder) is back in the Cardinals' starting lineup Friday against the Brewers. Good news. Jay hasn't started since slamming into the outfield wall last Thursday, but he received an injection in his shoulder on Monday and took swings without discomfort on Thursday.
