Edwards was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday. Edwards made one appearance in the majors before being sent back to Triple-A last time around, walking each of the two batters he faced. However, he's allowed just two earned runs over 15.2 innings while striking out 20 at Triple-A, leading to another recall Wednesday.

He'll now serve as organizational depth in the minors, with reliever Stolmy Pimentel set to take his spot on the 25-man roster.

Edwards' contract was purchased from Triple-A on Saturday. A career reliever, Edwards was called up following Derek Holland being placed on the disabled list. He has always shown the ability to miss bats, but walks have also been an issue. Look for him to be used in the middle innings and in mop up duty.
