Edwards had his contract purchased by the Indians on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Edwards has been in the Indians system since late May and makes his return to the majors for the first time since 2015. The 30-year-old has a career 4.32 ERA and 1.84 WHIP over 25 innings and dealt with arm injuries in 2016 and 2017.

Edwards was released by the Padres on Wednesday, Tim Hagerty of Sporting News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Edwards only appeared in one game this spring before sitting out with a forearm injury. The 29-year-old will look to get healthy and try to catch on elsewhere.

Edwards (elbow) threw a bullpen session Sunday, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander has been battling forearm tightness for a while now, but it seems like his simple throwing exercises earlier this month occurred without a hitch. It's unclear how close this puts Edwards to making his spring debut, but that should become clearer as he continues to ramp up his throwing program.

Edwards (forearm) felt better after playing catch Monday and will play catch again Tuesday, the San Diego Union-Tribune's Jeff Sanders reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Padres are opting to test out Edwards' forearm soreness via him playing catch rather than going for a formal diagnosis from a doctor. It's unlikely that he will be able to make his spring training debut anytime soon, and he could open the year on the disabled list at Triple-A.

Edwards -- who was supposed to make his spring debut Thursday -- was held out of action due to forearm tightness, The San Diego Union-Tribune's Dennis Lin reports.
EDGE Analysis
Edwards noticed to arm discomfort in the bullpen and did not make his spring debut. He said he was feeling better after the game, but the Padres will take it easy with their reliever, especially considering he is coming off of Tommy John surgery. Edwards is a high-strikeout reliever who has had mixed results at all professional levels. He will likely start the year with Triple-A El Paso if he can recover from this minor setback.

Edwards (elbow) signed a minor league contract with the Padres on Tuesday, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Edwards was forced to miss the entirety of the 2016 season due to a flexor sprain he suffered during spring training. In his last full season, the right-handed reliever posted a 4.32 ERA over 16.2 innings with the Rangers and Padres in 2015. With the offseason to rest up, the Padres hope Edwards will be effective in 2017.

The Padres declined to tender Edwards (elbow) a contract Friday, making him a free agent, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
A flexor strain suffered in spring training put Edwards on the DL to begin the season, and an early-June setback effectively ended his year. Edwards' health is still a question mark heading into the spring and he will probably not be assured an Opening Day bullpen job no matter where he signs.

Edwards (elbow) was placed on the 60-day DL Tuesday, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The move was made in order to make room on the 25-man roster for Paul Clemens who was recently claimed off waivers from the Marlins. Edwards, who's been sidelined with elbow soreness all of 2016, pitched with San Diego and Texas last season and accumulated a 4.32 ERA and 1.68 WHIP over 16.2 innings.

Edwards (flexor strain) suffered a setback on his rehab assignment Monday, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Edwards was on pace for a return next week, but the Padres will shut him down after the pain flared up again. He will undergo an MRI before they determine the next course of action, but it will be surprising at this point if he's able to make it back to action before the All-Star break.

Edwards (elbow) is throwing live batting practice and is "getting closer to game action" according to manager Andy Green, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Green also commented that "{Edwards'} arm feels great," although he does admit that the right-hander is still has some time to go in his rehab process. The progress is good to see, however, and as long as everything goes well in the coming weeks, Edwards should be able to go on a rehab assignment fairly soon, which could allow for an early-June return from the disabled list.
