John Lannan has elected free agency.
Lannan had been outrighted off the Phillies' 40-man roster. He was eligible for arbitration for a final time this winter, but Philly would have non-tendered him, so he'll now just have more time to look for a new gig. The left-hander's season ended early due to left knee tendinosis.

John Lannan (knee) is done for the season.
Lannan was placed on the disabled list August 16 with left knee tendinosis and may need surgery. The 28-year-old posted a brutal 5.33 ERA in 74 1/3 innings this season for Philly. He could be non-tendered this winter.

Phillies placed LHP John Lannan on the 15-day disabled list with left knee tendinosis.
Lannan suffered the injury during Wednesday's start in what was essentially an aggravation of a previous injury. The Phillies haven't provided a timetable for his return, but since he missed two months of action earlier this year with the ailment there's a good chance his season is over.

Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro said Thursday that it "seems likely" John Lannan (knee) is headed back to the disabled list.
"It appears that he has similar symptoms to those he experienced earlier this season with tendinitis of the patellar tendon," Amaro said. "We will conduct a repeat MRI and will know more about his injury once the MRI is performed. It seems likely that he is headed back to the disabled list." Lannan, who suffered the injury Wednesday, missed two months of action earlier this season with the same injury, so his season could be over.

John Lannan left Wednesday's start against the Braves with a left knee injury.
It's presumably an aggravation of the knee injury that cost him two months of action earlier this season. The Phillies will update Lannan's status after the game, but a stint on the disabled list seems likely. The Phillies have Roy Halladay and Jonathan Pettibone working their way back from injury, but they wouldn't be ready to take Lannan's next turn. Tyler Cloyd might be an option.

John Lannan was blasted for eight runs over five innings in a loss to the Nationals on Friday.
The eight runs matched a career-high. He was especially bad in the fifth inning, walking three batters, including opposing pitcher Dan Haren with the bases loaded. Lannan now owns a 4.81 ERA and 37/24 K/BB ratio over 73 innings this season. He has very little fantasy appeal.

John Lannan yielded four runs -- two earned -- in 4 1/3 innings Saturday in the Phillies' loss to the Braves.
The game wasn't decided until the 12th inning, so Lannan escaped with a no-decision. The left-hander issued two walks and didn't tally a single strikeout. He'll carry a 4.10 ERA and 1.35 WHIP into his next scheduled start against the Nationals and is not a recommended fantasy option in standard mixed leagues.

John Lannan will start Saturday against the Braves.
Lannan will be making the start on three days' rest, as Cliff Lee (neck) is expected to return to action on Sunday. He isn't a recommended option in most fantasy leagues.

John Lannan allowed three runs in seven innings in a win over the Giants on Tuesday.
Lannan was subpar in his first start after the All-Star break but rebounded nicely on Tuesday, holding the Giants to three runs on seven hits while striking out three. The win moved the lefty to 3-4 on the year, and he owns a 4.10 ERA through 11 starts. He'll have a tougher matchup his next time out, as he takes on the Braves on Sunday.

John Lannan allowed four earned runs in four innings Wednesday as the Phillies fell to the Cardinals.
Lannan got on a nice roll heading into the All-Star break but fell off the tracks on Wednesday night in St. Louis. He yielded eight hits and two walks, and was lifted from the game before the start of the fifth inning. The lefty will try for better next week vs. San Francisco.
