Joey Votto had a nice night in a losing effort against the Pirates on Tuesday, going 2-for-4 with a pair or RBI and a stolen base. Votto's two-run single off of A.J. Burnett got the Reds on the board in the first inning. He's now hitting a blistering .350 on the season to go along with his nine homers, 35 RBI and four steals. He's the best offensive first baseman in the National League and should remain a fantasy force for the foreseeable future.

Joey Votto went 4-for-5 with three home runs and six RBI in Sunday's win over the Nationals. Votto's final homer of the day was a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth that gave the Reds a 9-6 victory. It's a predictable breakout game after he posted just two jacks over his first 32 games of the year. Over the last four season, Votto has averaged 28.7 home runs. A power binge is coming.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that that the Reds and Joey Votto have agreed to a 10-year, $225 million extension. It's a massive financial commitment on the part of the small-market Reds and surpasses Prince Fielder's contract ($213 million) for the fourth-richest in MLB history. According to Nightengale, the deal will begin in 2013 and carry through the 2023 season, which runs contrary to earlier speculation. It would also keep Votto in a Reds' uniform until he turns 40.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that Joey Votto's contract extension with the Reds will be worth "almost exactly" $200 million over 10 years. Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com is hearing the same thing. The deal is expected to include the two years and $26.5 million remaining on the extension he signed with the Reds last offseason. This means the new agreement is worth $173 million over eight years. Once complete, Votto will be signed through 2021 and his age-38 season.
