Panik went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
It's his fifth multi-hit performance in 12 games, helping to fuel Panik's .313/.389/.500 slash line. His early-season power display is already fading, though -- his three solo shots are his only extra-base hits so far, and Friday's RBI was his first that didn't come from a home run.

Panik is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
After going hitless in both of the Giants' last two games, Panik will head to the bench for the first time this season. With Panik sitting out, Kelby Tomlinson will start at second base and hit eighth Tuesday night.

Panik's early-season power surge can be traced to mechanical and approach adjustments, NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Panik has never hit more than 10 home runs in a season so far in his career, but he has three already through the Giants' first five games. He reportedly altered his approach at the plate in order to hit for more power this season. After posting the lowest strikeout rate in the league last season (9.4 percent), Panik realized he could trust himself with two strikes, allowing him to take more chances earlier in the count. He also altered his setup at the plate in order to tap into more pull power. It's almost always wrong to read too much into small samples five games into the season, but there's at least a chance that this particular hot streak could be the start of a real breakout.

Panik went 1-for-3 with his second home run of the season in Friday's 1-0 win over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
The second baseman was the hero on Opening Day when he took Clayton Kershaw deep for the game's only run, and he recreated that scenario with a solo shot off of Kenley Jansen on Friday. "Babe" Panik is rewarding those who took a late-round flier on him in drafts, but his short, compact swing looks relatively the same as last season when totaled 10 long balls over 573 plate appearances, so we shouldn't overreact to his impressive start to the year. The 27-year-old remains a solid source of batting average help and runs scored while batting either first or second in the order, and any additional power should be considered icing on the cake.

Panik went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the Giants' Opening Day win over the Dodgers on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Panik accounted for all of the offense in this one with his homer off Clayton Kershaw in the fifth inning. A lefty homering off Kershaw is not something you see every day -- Kershaw gave up 12 homers combined to lefty batters from 2015-17. Look for Panik to be back in the two hole Friday before jumping to the leadoff spot against right-hander Kenta Maeda on Saturday.

Panik will bat leadoff against right-handed pitchers this season, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
After primarily occupying the two-hole in the order during the 2017 season, Panik will take over the leadoff role this season following the departure of last year's tablesetter Denard Span. Barring a severe decline in his on-base skills, Panik should be in line to set a new career-high in runs scored hitting in front of Buster Posey, Andrew McCutchen and Evan Longoria. Manager Bruce Bochy also reported Tuesday that Austin Jackson will lead off against lefties.

Manager Bruce Bochy said it's "very possible" Panik occasionally hits leadoff against right-handed pitchers this season, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Panik jumped around the batting order last season, primarily hitting second or seventh, but also occupying the leadoff spot 11 times. In those 11 starts atop the order, Panik hit a healthy .364/.364/.727. While it sounds like the 27-year-old could be deployed at different spots in the lineup again this season, Bochy hinted he could be in line for some additional work as the leadoff man when the matchups are right. In San Francisco's revamped lineup, this occasional preferential placement for Panik could provide a slight boost to his counting stats.

Panik went 2-for-4 with a double and his first home run of the spring in Saturday's 9-4 victory over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
It should be no surprise that Panik was able to take a southpaw deep, as he proved to be virtually split-proof last season with a .290 batting average against fellow left-handers compared to .287 against righties. The 27-year-old turned in a solid, but unspectacular 10-homer campaign in 138 games last season, but his fantasy value is derived from his solid batting average (.288) and ability to get on base to score runs. With Denard Span out of the picture, there is a shot that Panik could bat atop the Giants' revamped lineup of veteran bats. His lineup placement and development will largely determine if he can breach standard-league fantasy appeal at a loaded position, or if it will simply be another year of deep-league value for the second baseman.

Panik agreed to a one-year, $3.45 million deal with the Giants on Friday, avoiding arbitration, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
This was his first year as an arbitration-eligible player, and Panik's consistency in the field and in the batting average department (.282 career average) served him well. He should serve as the Giants' everyday second baseman this season, and could hit relatively high in the order, which makes him a worthwhile late-round option in deeper leagues.

Panik went 4-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a pair of runs scored in an 8-0 win over San Diego on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Panik has been on fire during the month of September, slashing .393/.436/.536 in 23 games, raising his season batting average 20 points in the process (.290). The 26-year-old has only delivered one home run during his hot streak, highlighting the one aspect of his game (power) that is holding him back from being a more-appealing fantasy option.
