Mauer is out of the lineup Sunday against the Royals, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mauer will sit against lefty Danny Duffy, as right-hander Trevor Plouffe (first) and switch-hitter Eduardo Escobar (third) will man the corner infield spots Sunday, while Miguel Sano serves as the DH. The Twins will want to get Mauer back into their lineup for the upcoming series against Detroit, as the veteran is slashing .364/.447/.591 since Aug. 1.

Mauer's absence from Wednesday's lineup is due to sore quadriceps, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Minnesota gave Mauer the day off to prevent him from further aggravating his quad. Fortunately, he isn't expected to miss any additional time and should be in the starting lineup Thursday versus the Royals.

Mauer is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rays, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Twins manager Paul Molitor is just giving Mauer a day off Sunday, despite the first baseman's hot run at the plate of late. Over his last six games, Mauer has gone 14-for-25 (.560 average) with a homer, five walks, eight runs and nine RBI. He'll give way to Kennys Vargas at first base Sunday, but Mauer looks like a worthy activation heading into the week given how he's performed recently.

Mauer finished 4-for-5, including two doubles and a triple, with four RBI in Wednesday's 13-5 win over Cleveland. He also scored two runs.
EDGE Analysis
Just a home run short of the cycle, it was quite the night for the 33-year-old as he recorded his second four-hit effort in three nights and passed Torii Hunter on the Twins All-Time RBI list with 793. Mauer is 10-for-15 with seven extra-base hits, six RBI and two walks through the first three games of the four-game set, raising his slash line to a solid .278/.378/.412 on the year.

Mauer homered, walked, and scored four times in a 4-for-5 game in Monday's win over Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
Mauer set season highs in both hits and runs with the performance, his best game of the season thus far. He still possesses excellent discipline, as shown by his 59:66 BB:K, but his lack of power all season has limited his value. This marks just his ninth home run and 23rd extra-base hit in 99 games.

Mauer is not in the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the White Sox, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mauer will receive his second day off in three games, making a brief appearance with a walk-off walk in Friday's contest against Chicago. With the White Sox sending southpaw Carlos Rodon to the mound, the Twins will trot out a right-handed heavy lineup that includes Kennys Vargas manning first base in Mauer's place.

EDGE Analysis
With lefty Jose Quintana on the mound for the White Sox, Mauer, who's batted 20-for-92 (.217) against southpaws this season, will get an off day as Kennys Vargas replaces him at first and bats fourth. Mauer will likely return to the lineup Saturday as Minnesota faces off against righty Miguel Gonzalez in Game-2 of the series.
