Joe Kelly left Tuesday's start against the Rockies after five innings due to right calf tightness. Kelly tossed five scoreless innings before exiting, lowering his ERA to 2.74 for the season. It's not a major concern, but the Cardinals didn't want to take any chances with a big lead. "We went out and talked to him and he said he feels it and felt it all game, but nothing different," said Cardinals manager Mike Matheny. "Once he got through the fifth, having a reasonable pitch count to get him out, try and save it a little bit." It sounds like he'll be fine for his next start.

Joe Kelly was charged with four runs - three earned - over just five innings in Thursday's loss to the Brewers. The right-hander gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out four. Kelly didn't seem quite right in this one, as he also had a pair of throwing errors and a wild pitch. Though he came into the night with a pristine 2.10 ERA since the beginning of July, luck has been on Kelly's side. He's not an ideal play next week in Colorado.

Joe Kelly earned his eighth straight win by holding the Pirates to one run over six innings on Friday. Kelly was in and out of trouble, as he gave up eight hits and three walks but came through with key pitches in big spots. The right-hander is now 8-3 with a 2.74 ERA, and he hasn't sustained a loss since June 5. Kelly will try to keep the magic rolling against the Brewers on Thursday.

Joe Kelly restricted the Pirates to one run on four hits over six innings Sunday in the Cardinals' 7-2 victory. He struck out five and walked two. Kelly improves to 7-0 record in 10 starts since he rejoined the rotation. The 25-year-old entered the game boasting a ridiculous 1.88 ERA in 72 innings since May 30. Kelly's peripheral numbers -- specifically his K/BB ratio, FIP and WHIP -- all scream that a regression is coming, but the right-hander has managed to outrace logic since late May. He draws a familiar foe on Friday, though this time Kelly and the Cardinals will be hosting the Pirates.

Joe Kelly pitched six solid innings, allowing just two runs, Thursday in the Cardinals' 6-2 defeat of the Braves. Kelly is 5-0 since entering the rotation. The homer he gave up to Justin Upton tonight, which accounted for both runs, was the first he's allowed in seven starts.

Joe Kelly fired six scoreless innings Saturday in the Cardinals' defeat of the Cubs. Kelly was sharp again, working around four hits -- only one of the extra-base variety -- and three walks. He finished with six strikeouts and got four runs of support from the Cardinals offense. The 25-year-old right-hander boasts a 1.57 ERA in 34 1/3 innings since July 6.

Joe Kelly held the Dodgers to one run over 5 1/3 innings Tuesday in the Cardinals' 5-1 victory. Some of his peripheral numbers aren't as promising, but Kelly boasts a 1.48 ERA in 48 2/3 innings since May 30 and seems likely to remain the Cardinals' fifth starter down the stretch. The 25-year-old right-hander does have pretty good velocity and decent breaking stuff, and is worth streaming in certain fantasy matchups. He'll get the light-hitting Cubs at home next week.

Joe Kelly blanked the Pirates for six innings as part of a 13-0 Cardinals win on Thursday. The Cardinals needed tonight's game to avoid the ignominy of a five-game sweep in Pittsburgh, and maybe they made a little statement in the drubbing, though they're still 1 1/2 games behind the Pirates at the moment. Kelly has pitched 12 1/3 scoreless innings in his last two starts and his ERA is down to 3.10, so it doesn't look like he'll be exiting the rotation anytime soon.

Joe Kelly tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings but the Cardinals lost to the Braves on Saturday. Kelly did his part, working around seven hits and three walks to keep the dangerous Atlanta offense off the board. It was Randy Choate and Trevor Rosenthal who blew it in the bottom of the eighth. Kelly, 25, will carry a 3.44 ERA into his next scheduled start in Pittsburgh and is worth owning in some deeper mixed leagues.

Joe Kelly allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings against the Cubs to win Friday for the first time this season. Kelly allowed three hits, walked two and struck out four. The win came in his third start since he moved into the St. Louis rotation. He also made 21 relief appearances earlier this season. The Cardinals are expected to keep him in the rotation after the break, but he's probably not going to make his next start until July 27.
