Jesse Chavez allowed one run on five hits over six innings in a win over the Yankees on Sunday. Chavez struck out four while not walking a batter in the outing. He's come down a little from his early success, but the right-hander still owns a 2.93 ERA and 1.20 WHIP through 14 starts. He'll take on the Red Sox on Friday.

Jesse Chavez yielded three runs -- two earned -- on eight hits over six innings of a loss against the Angels Monday. Chavez snuck up on the league in April, going 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA in six starts. Pro hitters have started to figure out the converted reliever since that time; he came into tonight having gone 3-3 with a 4.25 ERA in his last six outings. By no means should you feel compelled to drop Chavez in mixed leagues, but he's no longer a must-start. He'll take a take a 5-4 record and 3.04 ERA into Sunday's date in New York against the Yankees.

Jesse Chavez improved to 5-3, allowing four runs over six innings as the Athletics defeated the Yankees 7-4 on Wednesday. Chavez had a shaky third inning in which he allowed four runs -- including three on a Jacoby Ellsbury three-run home run -- but otherwise limited the Yankees. Overall, he allowed seven hits, walked two, and struck out five. Chavez has been solid for the A's out of the rotation, currently holding a 3.04 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP. He'll face the Angels on the road in his next start.

Jesse Chavez yielded four runs (two earned) in 5 1/3 innings Saturday in a loss to the Blue Jays. He allowed one run over the first four innings before the Jays scored three in the fifth thanks to some shaky defense. Chavez has now failed to complete six innings in three out of his last four starts. He has also allowed five home runs over his last three starts. The good news is that he has yet to allow a home run with a runner on base this year. He'll bring a 2.61 ERA into a start against the Tigers next week.

Jesse Chavez allowed two runs in five innings Sunday in a win over the Indians. It was a given that Chavez would start allowing more homers. However, that's no big deal if they're solo shots -- as both were today -- and the offense is giving you 13 runs of support. Chavez is now 4-1 with his fine 2.54 ERA.

Jesse Chavez painted eight innings of two-run ball against the White Sox Monday to earn his third win in four starts. Chavez struck out seven, walked two, and allowed five hits, one of which was Dayan Viciedo's second inning solo homer, and another of which was Jose Abreu's ninth inning shot that dashed the right-hander's dreams of a complete game. Chavez has been an absolute godsend to a team that lost Jarrod Parker and A.J. Griffin to Tommy John, going 3-1 with a 2.44 ERA and 1.01 WHIP through eight starts. He takes his reclamation show on the road in Sunday's matinee at Cleveland.

Jesse Chavez gave up four runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Mariners. Has Chavez's stock increased so quickly and dramatically that tonight's outing qualifies as a disappointment? The answer's yes. It was only the second time this year that the right-hander has given up more than one run. This was the first occurrence all year that Oakland lost one of his starts. Chavez gets the American League's top offense -- the frisky White Sox -- in Oakland next week.

Jesse Chavez's seven shutout innings on Wednesday was more than enough as the Athletics trounced the Rangers 12-1. Chavez, pushed into the rotation after Jarrod Parker and A.J. Griffin suffered injuries, has been a godsend to the A's. Wednesday's outing, in which he allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out eight, pushed his ERA down 1.89 and he has an impressive 41/8 K/BB ratio. He'll look to keep the success going in his next start against the Mariners.

Jesse Chavez gave up five runs (four earned) over five innings Friday in a no-decision against the Astros. This after Chavez had allowed just four runs combined over his first four starts this season. That's baseball for you. The 30-year-old was staked to an early 4-0 lead on Friday, but failed to hold it. To be fair, it wasn't all his fault, as a throwing error by Josh Donaldson in the fourth inning allowed two runs to score. He struck out five and walked a pair in the no-decision and now owns a 2.32 ERA through five starts. He'll get the Rangers next week in Texas.

Jesse Chavez allowed one run over six innings against the Astros on Sunday to pick up his first win of the season. Chavez has been fantastic since the outset, but some bad luck left him winless until Sunday afternoon. The right-hander gave up four hits and three walks, with Marwin Gonzalez' solo homer accounting for the Astros' only run. He also struck out six in the outing. Chavez will try to keep the ball rolling when the two teams meet up again Friday in Houston.
