Eickhoff signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Eickhoff was quick to find an opportunity in another organization after he was granted his release from San Diego on Wednesday. He'll join the Rangers' 60-man roster pool and will report to the Rangers' alternate training site, but Eickhoff could be in line for a quick promotion if Texas parts with other pitchers prior to Monday's trade deadline. Eickhoff made 12 appearances (10 starts) for Philadelphia in 2019, posting a 5.71 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 58.1 innings.

Eickhoff was optioned to the Padres' alternate training site Monday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Just one day after his contract was selected by San Diego, Eickhoff will return to alternate camp after failing to make an appearance out of the bullpen. Outfielder Abraham Almonte was added to the active roster to take Eickhoff's place.

The Padres selected Eickhoff's contract from their alternate training site prior to Sunday's game against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
He'll assume the active roster spot of first baseman Eric Hosmer (illness), who was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a non-COVID-19-related illness. Though all but three of Eickhoff's previous 78 major-league appearances -- all with the Phillies -- came as a starter, the right-hander is expected to work in a long-relief role for San Diego.

Eickhoff is part of the Padres' three-man taxi squad on their current road trip, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eickhoff enjoyed a strong spring, but he was never a serious contender for a spot in the Padres' rotation. The veteran has been a starter throughout most of his big-league career and can thus fill in as a long reliever or spot starter. He won't be able to participate in games unless a member of the current 30-man roster goes down to injury or tests positive for COVID-19.

Eickhoff allowed two runs on four hits in four Cactus League innings while posting a 7:0 K:BB.
EDGE Analysis
Eickhoff was never really in contention for a spot in the rotation after signing a minor-league deal with the Padres in January. The 29-year-old is likely to open the campaign with Triple-A El Paso but could be among the first in line for a callup should a San Diego starter go down with injury. Eickhoff holds a career 4.15 ERA (4.39 FIP) and 21.3 percent strikeout rate over 440 major-league innings.

Eickhoff signed with the Padres as a non-roster invitee in late December, Aaron Hancock of 14 News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The transaction hasn't been announced by the team but was confirmed by the pitcher himself in an interview. Eickhoff has had a tough time over the last two seasons, with injuries (including a lat strain, carpal tunnel syndrome, biceps tendinitis and a finger laceration) limiting him to 63.2 innings and a 5.80 ERA. Prior to those struggles, he was a capable if unexciting starter, posting a 3.87 ERA and a 21.0 percent strikeout rate over 65 starts. There's a chance he winds up as a back-end starter at some point this season, but that would require far better health than he's had recently.

Eickhoff (finger) became a free agent after refusing an outright assignment to the minors on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Injuries have derailed Eickhoff's career over the last two seasons, limiting him to a combined 63.2 big-league innings and a 5.80 ERA. He'll search for a new club heading into his age-29 season.

The Phillies recalled Eickhoff from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday and placed him on the 60-day injured list with a blister/laceration on his right middle finger.
EDGE Analysis
Eickhoff recently overcame a biceps injury before he was optioned to Triple-A on Aug. 20 but made just one start for Lehigh Valley before apparently succumbing to a new issue. Since Eickhoff wasn't expected to contribute for the big club at any point in September, the Phillies elected to shut him down for the season in order to open up another spot on the 40-man roster.

Eickhoff (biceps) was activated from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
He gave up 11 earned runs in 12.1 innings (five appearances) on his rehab assignment, so the Phillies aren't quite ready to give him another look in the majors. Eickhoff should join the big-league bullpen in September.

Eickhoff (biceps) was shifted to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
This move frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Logan Morrison, who had his contract purchased from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday. Eickhoff, who has been sidelined since June 17, won't be eligible to return until Friday following this move. He's made three minor-league rehab appearances since the start of August, with his most recent appearance coming for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday (he allowed two runs with three strikeouts in 2.1 innings).
