J.D. Martinez went 1-for-2 and drove in the Astros' only run of the night with a bases loaded walk in their loss to the Dodgers on Saturday. Martinez has started the season out very strongly, hitting .340 (17-for-30) with three homers and 13 RBI already. He seems to be settling in nicely as the Astros' No. 3 hitter and should be a solid source of RBI throughout the 2012 season.

J.D. Martinez two-run homer in the eighth inning tied the game at 4-4, affording the Astros the chance to come back and win against the Marlins on Friday, though they couldn't capitalize. J.D. Martinez finished the night 2-for4 with a pair of runs and RBI. He has come out of the gate sizzling, hitting a cool .385 (10-for-26) and already has three homers and eight RBI.

J.D. Martinez went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, two RBI, walk and run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Braves. He took Randall Delgado deep for a solo shot in the first. The home run was already Martinez's second of the year, while he's now hitting a robust .364/.391/.682 through Houston's first six games. If Martinez is able to make some progress against righties after hitting just .247/.278/.342 against them last season, his surprise 2011 breakout could prove to be no fluke.

J.D. Martinez finished 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Rockies. Martinez had a double in Friday's regular-season opener and is now batting .375 on the young season. He flashed some ability last year and could be a useful third outfielder in fantasy leagues by the end of 2012.

J.D. Martinez went 2-for-4 and knocked in three runs Monday in the Astros' 7-4 defeat of the Marlins. Martinez has hit .375 and driven in nine runs in 24 at-bats this spring. He doesn't have the power or speed to be an impact fantasy outfielder this season, but besides Carlos Lee, he's the closest thing the Astros have to a sure thing.

Astros manager Brad Mills said Monday that rookie J.D. Martinez has settled into the third spot in the batting order. It's a real sign of the times for the young and punchless Astros. Martinez, 23, enters play Monday with a .250/.300/.554 batting line to go along with four homers, five doubles and 15 RBI over his first 60 plate appearances in the big leagues. It's tough to trust the rookie in mixed leagues, but he should be owned in NL-only formats.
