Hammel struggled in a no-decision against the Nationals on Saturday, walking four and striking out three in just five innings.
EDGE Analysis
The Cubs came from behind to win, taking Hammel off the hook, but it was his worst start of the year and second start in a row in which he lasted just five innings. He may be 4-0 with a 1.85 ERA, but his 3.71 BB/9 is his worst mark since 2008.

Hammel (4-0) allowed two runs in five innings to defeat the Pirates on Monday. He allowed five hits and walked one while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
The start was actually Hammel's worst of the season, as he had allowed a total of two runs all season before Monday's start. The righty has had some trouble with walks this year, but by allowing just 21 hits in 29 innings he has kept his WHIP at a very strong 1.07. Hammel's next start will come Saturday against the Nationals.

Hammel improved to 3-0 with six scoreless innings against the Reds on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Hammel may not be as well known as his teammate, but he has a tiny 0.75 ERA that is almost has good as Jake Arrieta's 0.68 figure. He's still walking a bit too many (nine walks in 24 innings), but he's limited the damage to just two runs so far, thanks to giving up just 16 hits.

Hammel (2-0) allowed just one run on five hits over six innings in Tuesday's win against the Cardinals. He struck out six and didn't walk a batter.
EDGE Analysis
Hammel also had a two-run single in the fourth inning, accounting for both runs the Cubs scored in the game. Hammel needed just 84 pitches to get through a dominant six innings but was pinch-hit for in the top of the seventh. He threw 16 first-pitch strikes to 22 batters and now has a 15:7 K:BB to go with his sparkling 1.00 ERA.

Hammel (1-0) walked four and allowed four hits over six innings Thursday, but held the Reds scoreless for his first win of the year.
EDGE Analysis
He struck out only three, and that early K:BB of 9:7 certainly won't excite fantasy owners, but Hammel has also allowed just one run in 12 innings so far. He also helped his own cause with an RBI double. Even when he isn't able to prevent runs this well, the Cubs look like they're going to win a lot, and that should help Hammel rack up plenty of wins of his own.

Hammel pitched four scoreless innings against the White Sox on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
It was the longest outing by any Cub so far this spring. Hammer has been outstanding so far, giving up just three hits and one walks in his six scoreless frames. He looks all set to be the No. 4 starter in the rotation.

Hammel pitched two scoreless innings in a split-squad loss to Kansas City on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Hammel walked the first batter he faced, but claimed it was just butterflies in his first game appearance of the spring. He struck out one and gave up a single in the effort. Hammel is likely to be the No. 4 starter in the Cubs' rotation this year.

Hammel will likely slot in as the fourth starter for the Cubs this season, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Some have speculated that Hammel's rotation spot isn't secure with the addition of Adam Warren, but it's far more likely that Kyle Hendricks is the one who needs to be looking over his shoulder. Hammer went 10-7 with a 3.74 ERA in 31 starts for the Cubs last year.

Hammel will start Game 4 of the NLCS against the Mets on Wednesday, Jess Rogers of ESPN Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hammel had already been considered the likely option rather than Jon Lester on short rest, but the Cubs have now made the decision official. He'll either be looking to keep the Cubs' season alive or try to knot up the series at 2-2 depending on the result of Tuesday's Game 3.

Hammel is "likely" to start Game 4 of the NLCS for the Cubs, Jesse Rogers of ESPN Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hammel was in line to either see the start in Game 3 or Game 4, but the Cubs decided to go with Kyle Hendricks in Game 3. With the announcement that he'll pitch Game 4, it's highly improbable that Hammel will receive another start during the NLCS.
