Taillon (7-7) took the loss Sunday, allowing eight runs on eight hits and two walks over three innings against Toronto. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon had performed very well over his previous six starts, allowing only nine earned runs over 37.1 innings. However, he nearly doubled that total on Sunday. Outside of a three-run home run by Daulton Varsho, the Blue Jays mainly nickel-and-dimed Taillon with seven singles and a couple of walks. He'll have a chance for redemption next weekend in a home series against the Royals.

Taillon (7-6) earned the win Tuesday, allowing two runs on three hits without walking a batter over seven innings against the Mets. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
After surrendering a base hit to Jeff McNeil followed by a two-run shot to Pete Alonso in the first inning, Taillon allowed just one more baserunner and proceeded to retire the final 16 Mets he faced. The 31-year-old righty has now earned a win in four consecutive outings, posting a 2.28 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB across 23.2 innings during that stretch. Taillon will look to keep the win streak alive in his next start, which is projected to be early next week against the struggling White Sox.

Taillon (6-6) earned the win over Cincinnati on Thursday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five batters over five-plus innings.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't the breeziest outing for the right-hander, as he notched just one 1-2-3 inning and needed 92 pitches to get through five-plus frames. However, Taillon got the job done, collecting his fourth win in his past five starts to get his record to .500 for the first time this season. The veteran hurler has turned things around since a poor July 2 outing against Cleveland that pushed his season ERA to 6.93 -- over his subsequent five starts, he's posted a 2.08 ERA over 30.1 innings despite a mediocre 23:10 K:BB. Taillon will look to keep rolling in his next start, which currently lines up to be a road matchup against the Mets.

Taillon (5-6) earned the win over St. Louis on Saturday, pitching six innings and allowing one run on two hits and four walks while striking out four batters.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon ran into trouble in the first inning, allowing the first two batters he faced to reach base, with one of them scoring. An inning-ending double play grounder off the bat of Nolan Arenado ended the threat, and after Taillon walked the bases full in the third, he retired the final 10 batters he faced en route to his third quality start of the campaign. The veteran right-hander held an ugly 6.93 ERA following a poor performance against Cleveland on July 2, but he's since lowered that mark to 5.46 on the back of a strong four-start stretch during which he's yielded just four runs over 25.1 frames.

Taillon (4-6) allowed just one run on seven hits across 5.2 innings to earn the win Sunday against the Cardinals. He walked one and struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
It's mostly been a lost season for Taillon, though he's been better lately. Over his last three starts, he's allowed just four earned runs across 19.1 innings, picking up two wins in the process, including Sunday in the comfortable 7-2 Chicago victory. The righty's overall ERA is still an unsightly 5.75, but it looks like he's trending in the right direction. Taillon will aim to keep his momentum going in his next outing, which is projected to come Saturday against this same St. Louis squad.

Taillon did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk over 5.2 innings against the Nationals. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon came up one out short of his second consecutive quality start, being pulled at 92 pitches after 5.2 innings. The 31-year-old got off to a sluggish start Tuesday, serving up a solo homer to Lane Thomas in the first and then giving up a pair of runs before recording an out in the second inning. After giving up four or more runs in three straight starts, Taillon has allowed three runs over his last two starts (13.2 innings) combined. He's tentatively lined up to take on the Cardinals for his next start, who rocked Taillon for four runs and two homers over 2.2 innings during their last meeting.

Taillon (3-5) picked up the win Friday, allowing one hit and two walks over eight scoreless innings in a 3-0 victory over the Yankees. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Gleyber Torres rapped a single in the first inning, and that was all the Yankees could manager off the right-hander. Taillon fired 64 of 102 for strikes against the team he pitched for the prior two seasons, giving him just his second quality start of 2023. After a rough start to his Cubs tenure, all three of Taillon's wins have come since the beginning of June, and over his last seven outings he has a 4.69 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 31:11 K:BB through 40.1 innings.

Taillon allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits across five innings and did not factor into the decision in Sunday's extra-inning loss to the Guardians. He had no walks and struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
The struggles continued for Taillon, who saw his season ERA climb above 7.00. He was able to miss some bats Sunday but he allowed five earned runs for the second consecutive start. The righty has allowed at least four earned runs in four of his last five appearances. It's been a rough first season in Chicago for Taillon, who had a much stronger 3.91 ERA for the Yankees last year. He's penciled in to start again Friday against his old team in New York and should be avoided in that spot.

Taillon (2-6) allowed five runs on seven hits across five innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Phillies. He walked one and struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon set a season high in strikeouts but otherwise was ineffective again. He's allowed four earned runs or more in three of his last four appearances and eight times overall this season. That's led to a 6.90 ERA, which is not what the Cubs were expecting when they inked the righty to a four-year, $68 million dollar deal in the offseason. Taillon should start again this weekend against the Guardians, though fantasy managers should look elsewhere for the time being.

Taillon isn't expected to make another start until next week, as the Cubs have named Justin Steele and Marcus Stroman as their starters for their two-game weekend series in London versus the Cardinals, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon last pitched Sunday, so he wasn't an option to make a start during the Cubs' three-game series with the Pirates that ran Monday through Wednesday. Due to off days Thursday and Friday while they make the trip overseas, the Cubs will use the break in the schedule to reorder the rotation and have their top two starters take the hill in London. It's unclear if Taillon will be available out of the bullpen during the London series, as the Cubs may not want to overwork him ahead of his likely return to the rotation at some point during next week's three-game set with the Phillies.
