Taillon will no longer start the Cubs' Cactus League game against Colorado on Saturday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The reason for Taillon's late scratch is unclear, but the 32-year-old righty will have to wait a bit longer to make his spring debut nonetheless. Thomas Pannone will start against the Rockies in Taillon's place.

Taillon hasn't pitched in a Cactus League game yet this spring, as he's working on repeating his mechanics to keep from striding and landing open, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
He had a good second half with the Cubs last year (3.70 ERA, 1.17 WHIP), so it's a little concerning that he showed up to camp with mechanical issues. Taillon was scheduled to throw a simulated game Monday, so he is at least healthy enough to throw at full strength, even though he has also dealt with calf tightness this spring. If all went well Monday, the plan is for Taillon to get into a Cactus League game this weekend.

Taillon (8-10) earned the win Friday, allowing four hits and four walks over six scoreless innings against Colorado. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon didn't have his best command, but all four hits he allowed were singles as he kept the Rockies off the board in what wound up being a 6-0 shutout victory for the host Cubs. The 31-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA from 5.27 to 5.05 in the process and can look to push it below 5.00 in his final regular-season start next week at Milwaukee.

Taillon is not scheduled to start during the three-game series with the Pirates that begins Tuesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon would have taken the ball against the Pirates had he remained on regular rest, but the Cubs announced their starters for the three-game set Monday, and Taillon was not among them. It remains to be seen if he will be pushed back or skipped altogether, but don't expect to see him on the mound until Friday at the earliest.

Taillon (7-10) allowed five runs (three earned) on seven hits across five innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Rockies. He walked one and struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Coors Field is a notoriously tough venue for pitchers, and Taillon was no exception, as he suffered a 10th loss in a season for the second time in his seven-year MLB career. The righty has disappointed in his first campaign with the Cubs, as he now has a 5.27 ERA after posting a 3.91 ERA for the Yankees in 2022. Taillon will look for better results in his next outing, which is tentatively set for Sept. 20 against the Pirates at home, which looks like an easier spot.

Taillon (7-10) took the loss Wednesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk over five innings against Colorado. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon looked sharp early, retiring 10 of the first 11 batters he faced on the afternoon. However, he began to struggle as the game went on, surrendering five runs between the fourth and fifth innings -- though two of those runs wouldn't be charged to him on account of a fielding error by Ian Happ. The right-hander has now lost his last four decisions and has given up multiple home runs in three of his last four outings. On a positive note, he does hold a 26:2 K:BB over that stretch.

Taillon threw six scoreless innings with nine strikeouts but did not factor into the decision in Friday's loss to the Diamondbacks. He allowed one hit and one walk.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon stymied the Diamondbacks all Friday afternoon, completing his six shutout innings in a tidy 77 pitches. He generated 12 swings-and-misses. Those whiffs led to a 38.9% CSW rate on the afternoon, well above his 25.8% CSW rate on the season prior to this start. This outing was a welcome turnaround for Taillon after he posted an ugly 7.86 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 26.1 innings over his five prior starts.

Taillon did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing five runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings against the Reds. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
The Reds got to Taillon early, tallying four runs on three homers in the first two innings. The right-hander would ultimately settle down, however, holding Cincinnati off the board until the sixth inning. Following a four-start winning streak, Taillon's struggled of late, posting a 7.86 ERA over his last five starts. He's 7-9 on the season with a 5.73 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 113:33 K:BB across 25 starts (127.1 innings) this season. Taillon's currently in line for a home matchup with the Diamondbacks in his next outing.

Taillon (7-9) took the loss against Milwaukee on Monday, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits and no walks while striking out six batters over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon got blitzed by the Brewers in the first frame, serving up a pair of homers -- including a leadoff shot by Christian Yelich on his third pitch of the game -- and four runs overall. He was better after that, giving up just an unearned run and five hits the rest of the way, but the initial inning was too much for the Cubs to overcome. Taillon has dropped three of his past four outings, posting a 7.84 ERA over 20.2 frames during that span. The poor stretch comes immediately after an impressive six-game run during which he went 5-0 with a 2.17 ERA across 37.1 innings.

Taillon allowed four runs on four hits across 5.2 innings and did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Tigers. He walked one and struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon kept the Tigers off the board for five innings, but things came undone a bit in the sixth, as he allowed three singles followed by a grand slam from the red-hot Kerry Carpenter. That spoiled an otherwise good outing for the righty, who has been up and down this year with a 5.60 ERA. Taillon will look to avoid the big inning in his next start, which is tentatively set for Monday against the Brewers, which shapes up to be an important game as the teams fight for the NL Central title.
