Junis was removed from Friday's game against the Dodgers in the top of the sixth inning due to an apparent left hamstring injury, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Junis slipped on the mound in the top of the sixth inning and appeared to be grabbing at his left hamstring as he limped off the field afterward. The right-hander threw 92 pitches (64 strikes) prior to his departure and allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five in five innings. The severity of his injury hasn't yet been revealed.

Junis (3-1) earned the victory Sunday in Miami, striking out eight in six innings while allowing a run on two hits and two walks.

Junis held the Marlins' lineup in check, allowing just a single and two walks through the first five innings. Garrett Cooper tagged him for a one-out solo shot in the sixth but Junis came right back and struck out the final two batters he faced. The eight strikeouts were a season-high for the 29-year-old. Junis is easily having the best season of his career with a 2.51 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in 43 innings. His next start will likely be next weekend against the Dodgers.

Junis didn't factor in the decision during Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Phillies after allowing one run on three hits across 4.1 innings. He had three strikeouts and two walks.

The right-hander threw 40 of his 64 pitches for strikes but generated only five swinging strikes, and he was lifted after giving up a one-out single during the fifth inning. It's the first time this season Junis has failed to complete at least five innings, though it had less to do with his performance than the quick hook of manager Gabe Kapler. Regardless, it was another solid outing for the 29-year-old, and he'll carry a 2.68 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB into his next outing.

The primary damage against him came in the sixth inning when Francisco Lindor took him yard for a solo home run. However, Junis still managed to record his first quality start of the campaign, and his first win since April 22. Overall, Junis has maintained a 2.76 ERA and 24:5 K:BB across 32.2 innings.

Junis didn't factor into the decision during Friday's 8-7 loss to San Diego, allowing four runs on seven hits with two strikeouts in six innings.

Junis successfully navigated a tough San Diego lineup aside from the third inning, when he surrendered all four runs on four hits. The 29-year-old reached six innings for the first time, and he did it on an impressive 76 pitches, though he only managed two strikeouts and five swinging strikes. Junis takes a 2.70 ERA and 1.01 WHIP into his next start, projected to come midweek against the Mets.

With Anthony DeSclafani (ankle) getting placed on the 60-day injured list, it would seem that Junis has a better chance of sticking in the rotation over the next month.

EDGE Analysis

DeSclafani won't be eligible to return until late June, and while the Giants usually have viable options for rotation depth, Junis should be able to stick in the rotation if he continues to pitch well over the next month. He has a 1.74 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 18:4 K:BB in 20.2 innings over four starts.

Junis (1-1) was hit with the loss Saturday against St. Louis despite a decent performance which saw him allow two runs on six hits across 5.2 frames. He struck out three batters while walking one.

He was beaten by a Brendan Donovan RBI double in the second inning and a Tommy Edman solo homer in the fourth, and his teammates couldn't manage to put a single run on the board. Junis now owns a 1.74 ERA in 20.2 innings so far this season.
