The Athletics optioned Lopez to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
While making a spot start Tuesday against the Rangers, Lopez was touched up for three runs on six hits and four walks in 2.2 innings. He wasn't going to be available for a few days, so the Athletics will replace him on the 26-man active roster with a fresh bullpen arm in Carlos Duran, who was called up from Triple-A.

Lopez (0-1) took the loss Tuesday against the Rangers after allowing three runs on six hits and four walks in 2.2 innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Although Lopez was able to escape a bases-loaded jam in the first inning during his first start of the season, he was already up to 37 pitches after one frame. He also allowed a leadoff baserunner in each of his three innings of work Tuesday. The left-hander has a 3.86 ERA over seven innings so far, but his 9:7 K:BB and 2.57 WHIP are major causes for concern. It remains to be seen if Lopez will get another chance to start for the Athletics in the absence of J.T. Ginn (elbow), but the former's next appearance tentatively lines up for this weekend in a soft matchup against Miami.

Lopez will serve as the opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Rangers, Jessica Kleinschmidt of Baseball America reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lopez hasn't recorded more than five outs in an appearance this year, so he'll presumably be asked to work the first inning or so before giving way to a bulk reliever. The southpaw has yet to allow an earned run over 4.1 frames this season.

The Athletics recalled Lopez from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Just three days after being sent to Triple-A, Lopez will return to the big club Saturday to replace J.T. Ginn (elbow) on the active roster. The 27-year-old Lopez has punched out five batters and walked three over 4.1 shutout innings in the majors this season and will likely return to a middle-relief role.

The Athletics optioned Lopez to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Lopez has pitched 4.1 scoreless innings across three appearances since being recalled from Triple-A on Friday, but the 27-year-old will be sent back down to the minors in favor of fresh arms Hogan Harris and Grant Holman. Lopez also owns a 2.45 ERA through 14.2 minor-league innings this season, and there's a good chance he'll end up back in the Athletics' bullpen at some point.

The Athletics recalled Lopez from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Lopez was off to a great start with Las Vegas, posting a 2.45 ERA and 22:5 K:BB over 14.2 innings. It appears the left-hander is slated for long-relief duty for the time being.

The Athletics optioned Lopez to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The A's acquired Lopez this winter as part of a trade with the Rays, and in his first spring with his new team, the 27-year-old southpaw racked up four strikeouts in three shutout frames. However, he owns a 4.76 ERA across 22.2 career MLB innings, so the Athletics will opt to give him a few more looks in the minors before admitting him into their big-league staff.

The Rays traded Lopez and Jeffrey Springs to the Athletics on Saturday in exchange for Joe Boyle, Jacob Watters, Will Simpson and a compensatory draft pick.
EDGE Analysis
Lopez appeared in four games for the Rays last season, giving up six earned runs while striking out eight batters and walking seven across 10.1 innings. His performance improved slightly in Triple-A (4.26 ERA, 1.32 WHIP over 88.2 innings), and his chances of making the Athletics' Opening Day bullpen will likely depend on how well he does during spring training.

The Rays optioned Lopez to Triple-A Durham on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Tampa Bay recalled Lopez from Triple-A to make a spot start Sunday in place of Shane Baz (illness), who was unable to make his turn through the rotation while recovering from the flu. Though Lopez settled for a no-decision in his second career MLB start, he held a talented Dodgers lineup to one run on two hits and two walks over five innings. The Rays' decision to demote Lopez likely indicates that Baz will be ready to take the hill when his next turn comes up this weekend versus the Padres.

Lopez came away with a no-decision Sunday against the Dodgers, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out six over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Lopez impressed in a road spot start against one of baseball's best lineups, limiting the Dodgers to a lot of weak contact and generating a fair share of whiffs with his slider. He blanked the home squad through four innings before Enrique Hernandez took him deep in the fifth for the game's first run, but the Rays were able to take Lopez off the hook for the loss. The southpaw presumably will be optioned back to Triple-A Durham with Erasmo Ramirez set to be called up Monday, but Lopez could see another stint in the majors over the final month if an injury opens up a role for him.
