Kim is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Despite the Red Sox trotting righty knuckleballer Steven Wright out to the mound, manager Buck Showalter will keep Kim on the bench in favor of Trey Mancini. It's unclear if Mancini is going to move into a more prominent role, but as of now, Kim's absence seems to be more of an anomaly than anything.

Kim is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Kim is expected to sit against most lefties this season, so it comes as no surprise that he'll head to the bench with left-hander Drew Pomeranz toeing the rubber for Boston on Tuesday. Trey Mancini will make his first career start in left field to fill the void.

Kim is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Rich Dubroff of PressBoxonline.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kim was one of the stars of the Orioles' comeback win Saturday with three base hits in his four at-bats, but that success won't prompt manager Buck Showalter to change the way he deploys the outfielder. The 29-year-old will be deployed almost exclusively against right-handed pitching, so he'll get the afternoon off Sunday with southpaw CC Sabathia twirling for the Yankees. Craig Gentry will replace Kim in left field and lead off for the O's.

Kim went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Saturday's comeback win over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
After striking out in a big spot with the bases loaded in the fifth frame, Kim came through in the seventh. The second-year Oriole, who picked up his first RBI of the season, punched a two-out single into right field to give his team a late-game lead that it wouldn't relinquish. Although he was once expect to be the team's leadoff hitter against righties, Kim has hit seventh in all three of his starts so far.

Kim is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
The Orioles routinely shielded Kim from left-handed pitching throughout his rookie season, so it's no surprise that he'll sit Wednesday with southpaw J.A. Happ taking the hill for the opposition. Joey Rickard will replace Kim in left field and serve as the Orioles' leadoff hitter.

EDGE Analysis
Kim is hitting .255 this spring (13-for-51) after struggling early in camp. He'll platoon in left field with Joey Rickard.

Kim is 5-for-22 (.227) with one walk and four strikeouts through eight Grapefruit League games.
EDGE Analysis
After logging just 18 at-bats against southpaws in 2016, the outfielder had hoped to increase his playing time in the upcoming campaign by improving his offense against lefties. Last month, Manager Buck Showalter relayed that Kim would get a chance to face more left-handed pitchers in camp, but two weeks into spring training, that hasn't happened. Although it's still fairly early in spring, the current trend suggests Kim will remain on the heavy side of a platoon when the regular season begins, limiting his value across all formats.

Kim said he's in much better shape than a year ago and is confident he'll perform at a higher level this season than he did in 2016, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kim's game-winning, pinch-hit homer in late September against Toronto was one of the O's biggest hits of the year, and he posted a .302/.382/.420 line in 95 games his first year in MLB. Even after enjoying some success, Kim and his manager, Buck Showalter, believe the 29-year-old from South Korea has more to offer. "I think he's got another level he can go to," Showalter said. Kim feels having a year of American baseball under his belt will help him ascend the ranks in 2017. Through an interpreter, Kim said, "I've learned the American method of training and workouts. They chose quality over quantity. They don't have to work hours, hundreds of thousands of balls that I would have to hit [in the past]. Rather, my body remembers what I have to do in a short amount of training time. I've learned to be more efficient [with my daily workouts]." If the outfielder can improve against lefties -- and Showalter said he'll get Kim a lot of spring at-bats against southpaws -- then he could land an everyday role that would greatly increase his fantasy value.

Kim will receive more consideration from Manager Buck Showalter in facing left-handed pitchers this season, Eduardo Encina of The Baltimore Sun reports
EDGE Analysis
Kim went 0-for-18 with four walks against lefties last season, usually sitting in favor of Joey Rickard or Nolan Reimold. However, Showalter notes that the 29-year-old is already working out in Sarasota, instead of participating in the World Baseball Classic. If Kim can translate his success against right-handers into success against southpaws, he'll likely receive more opportunities throughout the season.

Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette said the team plans to platoon Kim with Joey Rickard in left field for 2017, the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the potential loss of Mark Trumbo in free agency, the O's are apparently setting their sights on finding a regular right fielder this offseason, while leaving left field to a duo that covered a combined 105 games at the position in 2016. While the construction of the lineup is unclear with approximately four months to go before Opening Day, Kim was often used as the team's No. 2 hitter during the second half of the season. Although he struggled during spring training, and initially to open last season, Kim finished with a .302/.382/.420 line. It should be noted, however, that Kim contributed very little in terms of home runs (six) and stolen bases (1), but he could be a useful source of runs scored if the team's current left field plans afford him four or five starts per week on the large side of a platoon.
