Huston Street pitched a perfect ninth inning Sunday to earn the save against the Tigers. Street mowed through the top of the Tigers order to close it out, striking out Miguel Cabrera to end it. It was his third save since joining the Angels and 27th overall this year. Street has made a seamless transition back to the American League and is one of the best closing options going right now as a dominant stopper on a very good team.

Huston Street picked up his first save as an Angel -- and his 25th save of the season -- in Wednesday's 3-2 victory over the Orioles. The Angels came back to win once again, scoring two runs in the bottom of the eighth to hand Street his first American League save opportunity since he was a member of the A's in 2008. Los Angeles acquired one of the game's best relievers from the Padres for prospects 2B Taylor Lindsey, SS Jose Rondon and RHPs R.J. Alvarez and Elliot Morris last week. Street boasts a 1.03 ERA and 0.77 WHIP over 35 innings.

ESPN's Jim Bowden reports that the Angels are close to finalizing a deal to acquire Huston Street from the Padres. There's no word yet on what the Padres will receive in return. Street would surely slide into the closer role for the Halos, with Joe Smith going back to a more suitable setup role. Street has put up a nifty 1.09 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 34/7 K/BB ratio over 33 innings of work this season for the Padres. He's making $7 million in 2014 and has a $7 million club option on his contract for 2015.
