Bader continues to carry over the improvement he displayed during his recent stint at Triple-A Memphis, as he's reached safely in all seven games since returning. Bader currently carries a four-game hitting streak, and Monday's multi-hit effort -- his first since July 3 -- vaulted his average back over the Mendoza Line for the first time since July 24.

Bader went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run homer in Saturday's 6-0 win over the Rockies.

"I think what you'll continue to see is opportunities being based, not on production every night, but what's giving us the best chance to win baseball games."

Bader was recalled from Triple-A Memphis prior to Tuesday's game against the Brewers.

He figures to slot right into the lineup against lefty Gio Gonzalez. Bader was told to work on his approach at Triple-A, and while the results seem positive (.317/.427/.698, 16:8 K:BB, seven HR, three SB), it would have been surprising if he had struggled at all at a level he has already mastered. Randy Arozarena was banished to the minors in a corresponding move.

Although the team has yet to make an official announcement, Bader is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Memphis later Tuesday, Stu Durando and Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch report.

Bader continued his torrid stretch down on the farm Monday night by slugging his seventh home run in 16 games with Memphis. Manager Mike Shildt recently praised Bader's approach regarding his temporary demotion, which came about when the outfielder's average sunk to .195 following an 0-for-4 showing against the Astros on July 28.

Bader, who went 3-for-6 with two home runs, three RBI and three runs overall in Triple-A Memphis' win over Iowa on Sunday, is hitting .375 (15-for-40) over his last 10 games with the Redbirds.

The stretch of torrid hitting includes three doubles, six homers, 12 RBI, five walks, two stolen bases and 16 runs. The success Bader has enjoyed seemingly indicates he's significantly improved the plate mechanics he was tasked with working on during his stint on the farm. With rosters about to expand Sept 1, it's possible Bader remains with the Redbirds until that point so as to continue affording him consistent playing time.

Bader is 6-for-15 with three home runs, seven RBI, three walks and eight runs over his last four games with Triple-A Memphis.

That line is partly comprised of a two-homer, five-RBI game against Fresno on Saturday, Bader's most productive effort since his demotion by far. The outfielder is now hitting a solid .279 with the Redbirds over his first 11 games and is expected to rejoin the major-league club at some point in the near future.

Bader, who's hitting .250 (6-for-24) with an RBI, two walks and one stolen base through his first six games with Triple-A Memphis, has been better in his plate mechanics since his demotion, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Bader is back down on the farm to gain some consistency in his swing after generating a career-low batting average (.195) and slugging percentage (.339) through 260 plate appearances this season. Although his early numbers with the Redbirds are mostly uninspiring, manager Mike Shildt is encouraged by what he's heard with respect to the quality of Bader's mechanics and swing. "The reports have been positive," Shildt said. "Candidly, that's about as far as I can take it from the game reports and feedback. He's getting more consistent with his approach and what he's working on, which is the reason he's there."

Bader was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Monday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
