Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Thursday that the plan to play Stanton in the outfield against Miami this weekend is complicated by the recent addition of Joey Gallo, Max Goodman of SI.com reports.

Boone subsequently indicated that the slugger would play the outfield in his return to Miami -- where he began his professional career -- though the manager's comments Thursday make that scenario murky. Stanton was slated to see his first action in the field this season at Fenway Park, but he instead started all four games of the series at DH. The slugger now appears set to return to the field during New York's next road interleague series, which will take place in Miami -- where Stanton spent the first eight seasons of his big-league career -- beginning this Friday. That news is certainly a positive for fantasy managers who roster the veteran, since he would otherwise be limited to pinch-hitting duties in the National League park.

Stanton could start in left field Saturday against the Red Sox, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Interestingly, his return to the outfield could come in an American League park, where the team still has the benefit of a designated hitter.
