Cole (back) retired 18 of the 19 batters he faced in a rehab start with Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday, MILB.com reports. Cole was roughed up in his previous rehab start, but he was in top form Sunday. Cole threw 73 pitches Sunday and has made three rehab starts, so there is a chance his next appearance could come with the Pirates later this week.

Cole (back) will make his next rehab start Sunday, Tom Singer of MLB.com reports. The Pirates will keep Cole on normal rest for his next outing with Triple-A Indianapolis, putting a return to the big club next Friday at least within the realm of possibility. However, given his struggles his last time out (five runs on 10 hits over 4.1 innings), Cole could be forced to show improvement over a couple starts before being activated.

Cole (back) will throw a bullpen session Thursday before making his next rehab start for Triple-A Indy, the Beaver County Times reports. The timeline for Cole's return continues to get pushed back. It's getting harder and harder to see how he'll make a big impact down the stretch. He's made a total of just three starts since May.

Cole (back) will make another rehab start, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. It was widely assumed that Cole would need another rehab start after he was blasted for five runs on 10 hits over just 4.1 innings in his outing with Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, and manager Clint Hurdle confirmed as much Wednesday. Hurdle did not offer up a specific date for Cole's next rehab outing, but may very well be Sunday if the team keeps him on normal rest. While Cole's velocity was up at 95-96 mph through his first four innings Tuesday, it dipped all the way down to 91-92 in the fifth.

Although Cole's velocity dipped during his rehab start Tuesday, the pitcher sounded unconcerned. "I don't have a body of work to back up those type of velocities, so I just wanted to come out with a good pitch count and feel good," Cole said in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. The power pitcher was sitting 95-96 for the first four innings but dipped to 91-92 mph in the fifth. Cole said he was saving his velocity for the future, but fantasy owners should continue to view his potential return with a wary eye.

Cole (back) gave up five runs on 10 hits and a walk, while striking out three over 4.1 innings, in a rehab start for Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Travis Sawchik of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. Feeling that Cole needed to "refine some things," the Pirates scratched the right-hander from his scheduled rehab outing over the weekend and instead had him throw a bullpen session. It seems he still has some things to work out, as the results Tuesday's weren't pretty for Cole, though it's uncertain where he sat in terms of velocity. Regardless, the Pirates seem likely to send Cole for at least one more rehab start before returning him to the major league rotation.
