Richards allowed three runs (one earned) in 6.1 innings while allowing three hits en route to a no-decision against the Red Sox on Saturday. He walked two and struck out five in the contest.
Richards gave the crowd at Angel Stadium a bit of a thrill Saturday, as he went six innings without allowing a hit before three consecutive hits and two consecutive errors helped end his night. The Angels ended up playing another game-and-a-half after Richards' departure, with the contest spanning 19 innings before a walk-off home run by Albert Pujols gave the Halos the victory. Richards will take a 2.54 ERA into a start against the Rangers next week.

Richards was untouchable Monday, as he tossed a complete-game shutout against the Dodgers while allowing just five hits. He struck out nine and issued two walks in the contest.
After giving up a combined eight runs in his last two starts, Richards showed why he is one of the best pitchers in the league Monday, notching the first complete-game shutout of his career, and lowering his ERA from 2.74 to 2.58 in the process. The 26-year-old continues to cross milestones off his to-do list in what looks to be a season worthy of Cy Young consideration. He will attempt to construct a fitting encore when he takes on the Red Sox on Saturday.

Garrett Richards fell to 11-4 after allowing four runs over seven innings in Wednesday's loss to the Orioles.
After nearly two months of stellar pitching, Richards has appeared mortal in his last two starts, having also allowed four runs over six innings in last week's start against the Tigers. On Wednesday, he yielded six hits -- including a two-run home run to Adam Jones -- while walking none and striking out four. The right-hander still has superb numbers, carrying a 2.74 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP, and a 143/46 K/BB ratio. He'll try to bounce back on Monday in a road start against the Dodgers.

Garrett Richards surrendered four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five in Thursday's setback against the Tigers.
This was the first time Richards has allowed more than three earned runs in a start since May 30, the first time he's surrendered as many as seven hits since May 19, and the first time he hasn't completed seven innings of work since June 20. The right-hander has dazzled in his breakout campaign to the tune of an 11-3 record and 2.62 ERA. Don't be surprised if his production drops off, however -- Richards has never thrown more than 157 innings in a season, and he now sits at 137 1/3. The good news is that Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto said earlier this week that the club has no plans to limit his workload.

Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto said Monday that the club has no plans to temporarily shut down Garrett Richards in order to limit his workload.
Richards is already at 131 1/3 innings, just a tad shy of the 145 innings he threw last season. He has never thrown more than 157 innings in a season before in pro ball, but Dipoto said there haven't been any discussions about giving him a break. "Not at all," said Dipoto. "Garrett has thrown from end to end in a season. His innings have not escalated to the point where they're 200-plus, but Garrett throws the ball as easily as anybody you'll ever see. It's not a violent delivery, it's not a violent package. He maintains velocity pretty easily." Richards is currently on pace for 216 2/3 innings and could pitch more if the Angels play deep into October.

Garrett Richards limited the Mariners to one run and three hits in eight innings on Saturday.
Richards wasn't involved in the decision in his latest gem, so his seven-game winning streak is still intact. He's allowed a total of four hits in 15 innings against the Mariners this season, and he's 11-2 with a 2.47 ERA overall. Yeah, he really should have been an All-Star.

Garrett Richards was brilliant yet again Friday, striking out eight batters over seven scoreless innings in a 3-0 victory over the Rangers.
Richards gave up five hits and walked a pair in the victory. He now owns a 1.27 ERA over his last eight starts and hasn't lost since May 30. While the 26-year-old wasn't selected to the All-Star team, he has pitched like one during the first half. He'll go into the break at 11-2 with a 2.55 ERA and 127 strikeouts in 123 1/3 innings.

Garrett Richards struck out 11 while allowing one run over 7 1/3 innings in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Astros.
Richards held the Astros scoreless until the seventh inning, as he gave up six hits and a walk in the outing. The 11 strikeouts were a season high for the 26-year-old, giving him 119 in 116 1/3 innings this season. Richards is 10-2 with a 2.71 ERA and 1.07 WHIP -- and was one of the more notable names left off the AL All-Star roster -- and he'll take on the Rangers in Arlington on Friday.

Garrett Richards allowed three runs on just two hits and two walks while striking out nine in Tuesday's 8-4 win over the White Sox.
Richards was greeted rudely with a three-run homer by Jose Abreu in the first inning, but he gave up just one hit and no walks the rest of the way. After posting a 1.05 ERA over five June outings, Richards is off to a fine start in July. The right-hander is truly in the midst of a breakout season and will try to keep it going this weekend versus the Astros.
