Galvis is out of the lineup Friday against the Brewers.

EDGE Analysis

Galvis is 2-for-15 over his past six games and will head to the bench with southpaw Eric Lauer pitching for Milwaukee. Kyle Farmer will take over at shortstop in the series opener.

Galvis isn't in the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Tigers.

EDGE Analysis

Galvis started in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader, going 1-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout while scoring a run. In the second game, Kyle Farmer will start at shortstop and bat ninth.

Galvis went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Tuesday against the Cubs.

EDGE Analysis

Galvis took Ryan Tepera deep in the ninth inning, his second homer of the season. He's gotten off to a quick start this campaign, recording three total extra-base hits and collecting at least one hit in four of his five contests.

Galvis went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Tigers.

EDGE Analysis

With the amount of talent at the shortstop position, it's easy to overlook Galvis, but Galvis is coming off a career-high 23 homers and already has his first of 2020. He's expected to play nearly every day for Cincinnati and is a capable fill-in if you need a replacement at the middle-infield spot.

Galvis has been working often with Reds shortstop prospect Jose Garcia, particularly on defense, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

EDGE Analysis

This isn't so much a fantasy note but one that reveals that Galvis has a reputation as a great teammate, helping out younger players that may eventually take his job. He did the same in Toronto for Bo Bichette. Galvis will still be the starter for the Reds this year and it's unlikely that Garcia will get much if any action this season, but it's also noteworthy that there's not an obvious backup shortstop on the Reds' roster.

Manager David Bell said Galvis (shoulder/quad) is fully healthy, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

EDGE Analysis

Galvis battled multiple injuries during the exhibition season, but has utilized the time off to return to full health. Prior to the delay in spring training, Galvis was set to return to play the infield, so he should be able to take the field when games resume.

Galvis (quadriceps/shoulder) was listed as the Reds' starting shortstop and No. 5 hitter for Thursday's Cactus League game against the Mariners, which has since been cancelled on account of rain, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Galvis will have to wait until at least Friday to see his first start of spring training in the field, as his previous three appearances during the Reds' Cactus League have come as a designated hitter while he's contended with quad and shoulder injuries. The Reds' decision to include him at shortstop seemingly suggests that Galvis is reasonably healthy again, so he remains on track to be ready for Opening Day.

Galvis (shoulder/quad) will return to action as a designated hitter either Monday or Tuesday, John Fay of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

EDGE Analysis

Meanwhile, he has been cleared to throw and could return to action in the field soon as well, likely after the Reds' off-day on Wednesday.

Galvis (shoulder/quadriceps) was able to do some hitting and throwing Thursday, John Fay of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

EDGE Analysis

Galvis has been limited to designated-hitter duties thus far in spring training due to a sore shoulder, but that injury appears to be a secondary concern at this point. Instead, the left quadriceps strain Galvis picked up Wednesday is his main worry, though the veteran infield said the injury is "not that bad." His ability to complete an on-field workout a day after suffering the injury is encouraging, but Galvis will still need to resume running without incident before re-entering the Reds' spring lineup.

Galvis (shoulder) underwent an MRI on his left quadriceps Wednesday, though the severity of the injury remains unclear, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

EDGE Analysis

The 30-year-old was removed from Wednesday's Cactus League lineup with left quadriceps tightness, and he was already set to be limited to serving as a designated hitter due to a sore shoulder. Manager David Bell said, "It was just a quad strain during a baserunning drill. Hopefully, it's minor." Galvis' status figures to be updated within the next couple of days.
