Mets activated OF/INF Eric Young, Jr. from the 15-day disabled list.
Andrew Brown was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding roster move. Young, out since May 25 with a right hamstring strain, was hitting .220/.315/.305 with a home run, seven RBI and 17 stolen bases before hitting the DL. He should play quite a bit with Chris Young struggling, so he's worth a pickup for fantasy owners who need speed.

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports that the Mets are expected to place Eric Young Jr. on the disabled list prior to Monday's game.
The precise injury that Young is suffering from remains unclear, but the speedy outfielder hasn't started a game since Tuesday, appearing only as a pinch hitter since then. Matt den Dekker is expected to be recalled to take his place on the roster.

Eric Young Jr. hit his first homer of the year Monday in the Mets' 9-7 win over the Yankees.
All three Mets outfielders homered, with Curtis Granderson and Chris Young also doing damage. EY had the best night of the group, though, going 3-for-5 with a double and a steal. He also had a nice 11-pitch at-bat that concluded with a line out to short. He's now started back-to-back games, collecting three hits in both, after starting just once in the first 10 days of the month. Terry Collins doesn't need much excuse to use him, so one imagines he'll be back out there tomorrow.
