ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports that the Mets are "eyeing" Rockies utilityman Eric Young Jr.
Rubin's source suggested that sending infielder Justin Turner to Colorado might get the deal done for New York. Young batted just .247/.342/.298 in 229 plate appearances this past year with the Rockies, then had a poor showing in the Venezuelan Winter League. But he still has some upside and might make sense as a buy-low option for the rebuilding Metropolitans.

Eric Young, Jr. released a statement Monday calling reports that he was dismissed from his Venezuelan Winter League team due to tardiness "incomplete and erroneous."
Young said that a problem with travel arrangements for a family member led to him arriving late to a game on Thanksgiving Day. While various media reports suggested that he was late twice, he made it a point to clarify that it was his lone attendance issue. Young was also unhappy that the team failed to address his safety and security concerns for a family member. The 26-year-old batted just .240/.333/.240 over 50 at-bats before being dismissed by Bravos de Margarita.

Eric Young Jr. has reportedly been sent home by his Venezuelan Winter League team due to tardiness.
The report comes from a variety of Venezuela media outlets, by way of Troy Renck of the Denver Post. Young was batting an uninspiring .244/.333/.244 over 45 at-bats for the Bravos, so they probably didn't have to think twice about cutting him. The 26-year-old should earn a spot on the Rockies' bench next season.

Eric Young Jr. went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three stolen bases in Sunday's win over the Reds.
It was a good statement for more playing time, as this was Young's first start of the month. He's now managed 21 steals for the season despite garnering just 142 at-bats, making him a viable option for those in deeper leagues in need of speed.

Eric Young Jr. left Saturday's game with tightness in his calf.
It's poor timing, as Young was in the middle of his best game of the season, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored, an RBI and three stolen bases. It's not clear at this point how long he might be sidelined.

He'll replace the injured Carlos Gonzalez on the active roster. It's not clear where he'll fit in, but it's possible he could get a look in left field. The speedy 26-year-old batted .229/.255/.229 batting line over 55 plate appearances with the Rockies earlier this season.

Rockies optioned INF-OF Eric Young Jr. to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
An expected move after the acquisition of Mark Ellis. Young provided a spark upon his initial call-up, but he heads back to the minors with a lowly .229/.255/.229 batting line over 55 plate appearances. The 26-year-old is expected to play the outfield at Triple-A.
