Thames is starting at first base and batting fifth Sunday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Thames remained on the bench versus the Cubs' left-handed starters for the first two games of the series, but came through with a pinch hit, three-run home run in both games to earn the start. Jesus Aguilar is 4-for-27 to begin the season, so if Thames continues to hit well Sunday he could seemingly force his way into the lineup.

Thames hit a pinch-hit, three-run homer in Friday's victory over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Thames has started just one game this season, but he has made the most of his opportunities off the bench, going 3-for-6 with Friday's homer. Fellow first baseman Jesus Aguilar is off to a bit of a slow start, going just 4-for-24 (.167) with a .500 OPS over seven games, but Aguilar is showing signs of turning things around, reaching base eight times (two hits, six BB) over his last four games, which will likely allow him to continue seeing most of the action at first base and keep Thames in his reserve role.

Thames is 7-for-20 with two home runs and five RBI across his last eight games.
EDGE Analysis
Thames got off to a slow start in spring training but has begun to find his stroke since missing a game with a foot bruise. Jesus Aguilar will begin the season as the starter at first base while Thames is the top backup and bench bat, while he could also see some time in the corner outfield for the Brewers.

Thames went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Thames returned the lineup with a bang after missing Tuesday's game due to a bruised foot. The 32-year-old struck out in his first plate appearance Wednesday but responded with a homer -- his first of spring -- and single in his next two trips to the plate. Thames is projected to open the season as a platoon option at first base or in the corner outfield.

Thames (foot) will start at first base and bat fifth in Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Thames had been scheduled to play in Tuesday's 1-0 win over the Rockies but was ultimately scratched shortly before opening pitch while he remained bothered by a bruised foot. One extra day was all Thames needed to recover from the issue, so he remains on track to open 2019 as a platoon option at first base or in the corner outfield.

Thames is not on the 25-man NLDS roster ahead of the Brewers' series with the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Thames will not be available for the best-of-5 as the club begins its first postseason series since 2011. The slugger wasn't able to carve out any reliable playing time down the stretch, hitting just .133/.235/.283 with two home runs and five RBI in 60 at-bats dating back to the start of August. In his place, manager Craig Counsell made room for infielders Hernan Perez and Jonathan Schoop, while outfielders Keon Broxton and Domingo Santana also made the roster.

Thames walked as a pinch-hitter in Sunday's victory over the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Thames still owns a respectable .780 OPS on the season, but thanks to a lowly .157 batting average since the All-Star break his playing time has almost completely evaporated, as he has just two starts and 15 at-bats in all this month. If the Brewers are able to lock up a playoff spot by the middle of the week, though, Thames could see a few starts in an effort to get his bat going prior to postseason play.

Thames is out of the starting nine against Cincinnati on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Thames will continue to spend a majority of his time out of the lineup as Ryan Braun gets a start in left field for the matinee. A lack of productivity hasn't helped Thames earn more plate appearances, as he's just 4-for-40 with 24 strikeouts across 18 games this month.

Thames is out of the lineup for the seventh time in the Brewers' last nine games Tuesday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
It's possible that Thames is still battling the knee injury which caused him to miss the first three games of that stretch, as all nine games have come against righties, against whom Thames rarely sat earlier in the season. He's hit just .103 in his last 17 games, however, so it's also possible that he's simply lost his place as a regular. Ryan Braun, who's hit .350 in the month of August, will start again in left field, bumping Christian Yelich over to right.
