Giants prospect LHP Edwin Escobar has gotten off to a slow start this season, posting an 8.53 ERA through his first 12 2/3 innings for Triple-A Fresno. The 21-year-old has allowed a total of 22 hits over his three starts this season, and opposing hitters are raking against him at a .379 clip. However, none of those 22 hits have left the yard (which is all the more impressive considering Fresno plays in the notoriously hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League), and Escobar has still posted an impressive 17/4 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The left-hander profiles as a No. 4 or 5 starter in the major leagues and should debut with the Giants at some point this season.

Edwin Escobar had a rough go of it against the Mariners on Saturday, surrendering four runs on five hits in his 2 2/3 innings. The 21-year-old left-hander walked three and struck out a pair in the brief appearance. Giants manager Bruce Bochy has indicated that Escobar could get a look if the team suffers injuries in the rotation, but he holds no fantasy value at the present time.
