Giants prospect LHP Edwin Escobar has gotten off to a slow start this season, posting an 8.53 ERA through his first 12 2/3 innings for Triple-A Fresno.
The 21-year-old has allowed a total of 22 hits over his three starts this season, and opposing hitters are raking against him at a .379 clip. However, none of those 22 hits have left the yard (which is all the more impressive considering Fresno plays in the notoriously hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League), and Escobar has still posted an impressive 17/4 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The left-hander profiles as a No. 4 or 5 starter in the major leagues and should debut with the Giants at some point this season.

Edwin Escobar had a rough go of it against the Mariners on Saturday, surrendering four runs on five hits in his 2 2/3 innings.
The 21-year-old left-hander walked three and struck out a pair in the brief appearance. Giants manager Bruce Bochy has indicated that Escobar could get a look if the team suffers injuries in the rotation, but he holds no fantasy value at the present time.

Edwin Escobar pitched well in Sunday's Cactus League victory over the Dodgers, allowing just one run on one hit over three innings of work.
The 21-year-old southpaw struggled a bit with his command though, walking four and failing to strike out a batter in the game. Manager Bruce Bochy came away impressed though, noting after the game that he's "knocking on the door" and could be the choice if the Giants need a replacement in their rotation.
