Escobar(0-2) gave up five hits, four earned runs and two walks over 3.2 innings in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Cubs. He also struck out a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old endured another rough outing, his second in as many starts in 2016. Escobar has now failed to get out of the fourth inning in either of his two trips to the mound this season, and his 14.14 ERA and 2.57 WHIP are the stuff of nightmares. He'll try to put what has been a forgettable season so far in the rearview mirror next Friday, when he faces off against the Marlins at home.

Escobar (0-1) did not impress in his first start of 2016, allowing eight runs - seven earned - in 3.1 innings on Monday against the Astros. He allowed 10 hits and walked one while striking out two.
EDGE Analysis
Escobar's dud should not have come as a total surprise, as the lefty had an unimpressive 4.64 ERA in five starts at Triple-A Reno this season. The young lefty should get another shot in the rotation, given that the Diamondbacks lost both Shelby Miller and Rubby De La Rosa to the disabled list recently. Escobar will try to improve upon his first start this weekend against the Cubs.

Escobar has been recalled from Triple-A Reno and will start Monday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Escobar had been the expected starter, but Monday's move officially confirms it. The 24-year-old owns a 19:7 K:BB ratio over 32 innings in the minors this year, and will be facing a team in Houston that has struck out at a 24.8 percent clip over the last 30 days. The lefty has only appeared in two Major League games in his career, but owns a 4.17 career minor league ERA.

Escobar is expected to start for the Diamondbacks on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The Diamondbacks lost a pair of starters to the DL on Friday (Shelby Miller and Rubby De La Rosa) and will hand the ball to Escobar for at least one turn in the rotation. Escobar, 24, is an eight-year minor league veteran who owns a 4.79 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 159:77 K:BB in parts of three seasons at the Triple-A level (220 innings). He's posted a 4.68 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in five starts for Triple-A Reno since being claimed off waivers from Boston last month.

Escobar was claimed off waivers by the Diamondbacks on Friday, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox had previously designated Escobar for assignment to make room on their 40-man roster. Escobar has yet to give up an earned run through seven innings of work at the Triple-A level this season.

Escobar was designated for assignment on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, and Escobar was the casualty. His numbers in the minors have been largely unimpressive, so it's quite possible he will be outrighted and remain with Triple-A Pawtucket.

Escobar was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Escobar struggled in Triple-A in 2015, posting a 5.07 ERA and 1.57 WHIP over 49.2 innings pitched. He's going to have to improve on those numbers this season if he wants a chance in the big leagues.

Escobar (elbow) was activated from the DL and optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket after Saturday's game.
The left-hander fared well in a pair of recent minor league rehab outings, allowing one hit while striking out two over three scoreless innings, but evidently the Red Sox want to see more before entrusting him with a role in the major league bullpen. Escobar hit the DL prior to the start of the season with elbow inflammation.

Escobar (elbow) threw an inning in extended spring training, the Boston Globe reports.
Escobar, who was obtained from the Giants last season for Jake Peavy, was placed on the disabled list back in March. The Red Sox will develop Escobar, who was a starter in the San Francisco organization, as a reliever.

Escobar (elbow) has progressed to throwing off flat ground, Alex Speier of the Boston Globe reports.
Escobar may have dodged a bullet with this elbow injury, as the strain was very close to the area associated with a UCL tear that would have required Tommy John. Rest and rehab is expected to do the trick instead for the 22-year-old lefty, who should progress to throwing from a mound within the coming weeks. Once healthy, Escobar is expected to begin the year at Triple-A Pawtucket, but has a chance to provide bullpen help in the majors as a late-season call-up.
