With Rich Hill returning to the A's rotation on Saturday, someone had to exit the rotation and Overton's ineffectiveness Thursday against the Giants made the decision easy for the team. After a decent debut, Overton really struggled on Thursday allowing eight hits and eight runs over only three innings. The long ball was a big issue for Overton in his brief initial stint in the majors, giving up five homers in only 8.2 innings. Overton will re-join the Nashville Sounds rotation and be one of the first names considered the next time the A's need a starter.

Overton (1-0) allowed three runs on seven hits, struck out three and walked two over 5.2 innings during his MLB debut Saturday against the Angels.
