Dillon Gee is penciled in as the Mets' Opening Day starter. Jon Niese would have been given the nod, but he's battling elbow inflammation and probably won't debut until April 6. Gee is scheduled to pitch Friday in Fort Myers, Florida against the Twins. 10 days later is the Mets' season-opener against the Nationals.

Gee, who could start on Opening Day for the Mets if Jon Niese isn't ready, has allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings this spring.

The Mets could have considered shopping him for a bat this winter given their pitching depth, but with Matt Harvey's status up in the air, they're probably going to need to keep Gee around.

He's allowed two runs or less in seven of his last nine starts. Gee has been an extremely reliable fantasy hurler since late May. He'll take an 11-10 record and 3.47 ERA into next Sunday's outing against the Phillies.

Dillon Gee allowed four runs on nine hits over 6 1/3 innings in a loss to the Nationals on Tuesday. Gee gave up home runs to Jayson Werth and Adam LaRoche among his nine hits allowed, but he didn't walk a batter while striking out five. The right-hander fell to 11-10 on the season but owns a respectable 3.61 ERA through 29 starts. He'll have a good shot at getting back in the win column Sunday against the Marlins.

Dillon Gee limited the Braves to one run and four hits in seven innings to win Wednesday. Gee ended up on the wrong side of 2-1 games the last two times he faced the Braves. Today, he got ample run support and picked up his 11th win in a 5-2 game. He's allowed one or two runs in six of his last seven starts.

Dillon Gee allowed two runs over 7 2/3 innings in Friday's 3-2 win over the Nationals. Both runs scored on solo homers. Gee struck out three and walked one in the victory and induced 17 ground balls. The 27-year-old now sits at 10-9 on the year and owns a stingy 2.47 ERA dating back to May 30. He'll square off against the Braves next week in Atlanta.
