Castillo (0-2) was charged with the loss against the Athletics on Thursday, allowing an earned run on a hit and a walk over one inning.
EDGE Analysis
Tasked with preserving a 2-2 tie upon entering in the ninth inning, Castillo retired two of the first three batters he faced before allowing a go-ahead RBI double to Matt Chapman that would deliver what would prove to be the winning run. The right-hander has proven hittable lately, giving up four earned runs over the 3.1 innings covering his last four appearances while providing a statistical mixed bag of two saves, Thursday's loss and a blown save during that span.

Castillo gave up a hit and struck out one without allowing a run in two-thirds of an inning Wednesday to record his sixth save of the season in a 2-0 win over the A's.
EDGE Analysis
The Rays continue to buck their historical trend by leaning on Castillo in the ninth inning, as the right-hander has six of the team's nine saves so far. His 3.18 ERA and 16:4 K:BB through 11.1 innings are more than worthy of the job, but the return of Pete Fairbanks (shoulder), potentially within the week, could provide Castillo with some competition.

Castillo gave up one run on one hit while striking out two in one inning to record his fifth save of the season during Tuesday's 4-3 win over the A's.
EDGE Analysis
He served up a leadoff solo shot to Sean Murphy to make it a nervous ninth inning for the Rays, but Castillo settled down and got the job done. The right-hander has given up three runs in his last two appearances to push his ERA up to 3.38, but Castillo's 15:4 K:BB through 10.2 innings remains strong, and he's 5-for-7 in converting save chances to begin the season.

Castillo was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Saturday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo was experiencing side effects from the COVID-19 vaccine Friday, but he's feeling better and will be available for Saturday's game against Toronto. The right-hander should resume his role as the Rays' primary closer now that he's been cleared to return.

Castillo was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Friday while experiencing side effects from the vaccine, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old allowed two runs in a blown save Wednesday and is now sidelined after feeling vaccine side effects. There's no minimum required stay on the COVID-19 IL, so Castillo could rejoin the team this weekend if he overcomes the ailment. Pete Fairbanks (shoulder) and Nick Anderson (elbow) were already on the injured list, so the ninth-inning role could be wide open for Tampa Bay over the weekend.

Castillo (0-1) allowed two runs on two hits and a walk, getting charged with a blown save and the loss in Wednesday's 9-8 defeat to the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo entered the ninth attempting to preserve a one-run lead, but he allowed a leadoff single on the first pitch of the inning. After a stolen base and a sacrifice bunt, the run came across on a perfectly executed safety squeeze by Nicky Lopez. The Royals ended up walking off a few batters later after Salvador Perez pulled a slider down the left field line to score Lopez from second, handing Castillo his first loss and second blown save of the year. The 27-year-old closer still has four saves to his credit as well as a hold and a 2.79 ERA over 9.2 innings.

Castillo allowed no hits and a walk while striking out two in 1.1 innings to earn the hold against the Yankees on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo picked up his fourth save of the season Saturday, but he entered Sunday's game with two outs in the seventh inning and remained in the game during the eighth while Jeffrey Springs earned his first career save. Castillo has now posted a 1.00 ERA and 0.78 WHIP with 13 strikeouts in nine innings across his first eight relief appearances of the season. Although Springs received the save chance Sunday, Castillo still appears to be in line for the majority of the closing duties this year.

Castillo had two strikeouts and didn't allow a baserunner in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Saturday against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
It was another strong performance from the 27-year-old, and he's now converted four of five save chances to begin 2021. Castillo has given up one run on four hits with an 11:9 K:BB through 7.2 innings this season.

Castillo gave up a hit and a walk while striking out three in a scoreless ninth inning Monday to record his third save of the season in a 1-0 win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander has been busy in the early going, making five appearances in the Rays' first 10 games, but Castillo has been mostly up to the task by posting a 1.59 ERA and 8:1 K:BB through 5.2 innings while converting three of four save chances. The track record of the organization suggests other relievers will start seeing ninth-inning work at some point, but for now Castillo seems to have the closing role to himself in Tampa Bay.

Castillo allowed one earned run on one hit while striking out two to blow the save Tuesday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo entered the game with a one-run lead in the ninth inning and promptly allowed a solo home run to Christian Vazquez -- the first batter he faced. He had little trouble retiring the side from there, inducing a groundout and two strikeouts to end the frame. Castillo has closed out both of the team's victories this season, though the Rays are well-known for moving different relievers into the closer role throughout the campaign.
