Dexter Fowler smoked his seventh home run of the season Thursday against the Mets. He finished 1-for-5 on the day, but because he reached via fielder's choice in two of his plate appearances, he ended up scoring three runs. Fowler is one home run behind Justin Upton for the major league lead and just six behind his total from all of last season. Some may consider him a sell high, but we could be witnessing a true breakout season.

Dexter Fowler is out of the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets due to a sore left foot. Fowler is considered day-to-day. Eric Young, Jr. will start in his place in center field and bat leadoff.

Rockies and OF Dexter Fowler avoided arbitration by agreeing to a two-year, $11.6 million contract. The deal covers Fowler's second and third arbitration-eligible seasons. He's a Super Two qualifier, so he has a fourth arbitration year that is not covered. Fowler, 26, hit .300/.389/.474 with 13 home runs, 12 stolen bases and 53 RBI in 143 games last season for Colorado. He carries massive fantasy potential into 2013.

Dexter Fowler requested $5.15 million and was offered $4.25 million from the Rockies when arbitration figures were exchanged Friday. It's the second time Fowler has been eligible for arbitration due to his status as a Super 2 player. After an impressive 2012 season where he hit .300/.389/.474, Fowler has been the subject of trade rumors this Winter, and could still be dealt before the season begins.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal lists Mike Leake and Drew Stubbs as two "obvious candidates" to be traded in a potential move for Dexter Fowler. Rosenthal says the Reds are "unlikely" to part with Homer Bailey, but Leake could be had since he's not expected to have a rotation spot in 2013 with Aroldis Champan converting to starter. Stubbs, of course, would also lost his spot in the starting lineup if the Reds picked up Fowler. Whether or not such an offer would entice the Rockies remains to be seen.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal says the Reds and Phillies have "kicked tires" on Dexter Fowler. Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said Monday that he hasn't discussed a trade with the Rockies for Dexter Fowler, but it sounds like he's at least exploring the possibility. Fowler might be a backup option in center field for the Phillies if they're unable to sign Michael Bourn.
