The Angels reinstated Daniel (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Salt Lake.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel logged a 1.78 ERA and 0.95 WHIP alongside a 37:5 K:BB during his rehab assignment across rookie and High-A ball. He's been on the injured list since February due to a strained right shoulder, and the Angels will allow him to keep developing in Triple-A rather than adding him to their major-league rotation. He put up a 4.49 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 102.1 innings with Triple-A Salt Lake in 2022.

Daniel (shoulder) struck out 10 and allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks over 5.1 innings in his latest rehab start Tuesday for Single-A Inland Empire.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel made the sixth start of his rehab assignment Tuesday and his fourth in a row in the California League, where he's produced a 1.77 ERA and 0.98 WHIP while striking out 28 over 20.1 innings. With the right-hander's 30-day rehab window nearing its end, he should be activated from the Angels' 60-day injured list within the next few days. However, since the 26-year-old right-hander has yet to make his MLB debut, the Angels may not be willing to include him in the big-league rotation right away and could instead option him to either Double-A Rocket City or Triple-A Salt Lake upon his reinstatement.

Daniel (shoulder) struck out six while allowing two hits and no walks over six scoreless innings in his latest rehab start Tuesday with Single-A Inland Empire.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel remains on the Angels' 60-day injured list, but his 30-day rehab window will come to a close at the end of the month and he's expected to soon be activated and assigned to either Triple-A Salt Lake or Double-A Rocket City. The right-hander has had little trouble regaining his command and control as he works his way back from the shoulder strain that has sidelined him since spring training. Through five rehab outings between stops with Inland Empire and the Angels' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate, Daniel has submitted an 0.90 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 27:2 K:BB over 20 innings.

Daniel (shoulder) struck out seven and scattered four hits and one walk over five shutout innings in his most recent rehab start Wednesday for Single-A Inland Empire.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel, who has resided on the Angels' 60-day injured list all season with a right shoulder strain, has now completed four rehab starts. After beginning his assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Aug. 1 and tossing two frames that day, Daniel has since added an inning to his workloads in each of his subsequent three starts, all of which have come at Inland Empire. He'll likely eventually move on to a higher-level affiliate before his 30-day rehab window comes to a close, but expect the Angels to option him to the minors rather than keeping him on the 26-man active roster once he's reinstated from the IL.

Daniel (shoulder) began a minor-league rehab stint with the Angels' Arizona Complex League team Aug. 1, and he's thus far allowed one run on four hits and posted a 9:0 K:BB over five innings spanning two starts.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel opened the regular season on the 60-day IL due to a right shoulder strain, and he only recently began pitching in minor-league games. The results have so far been impressive despite the level of competition, and in Daniel's most recent outing he struck out seven batters in three scoreless frames. The 26-year-old has been a starter throughout his minor-league tenure, but he'd likely work out of the bullpen if given the chance to make his major-league debut before the end of the current campaign.

Daniel's contract was selected by the Angels on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel doesn't come with a ton of prospect pedigree, as he was the 211th overall pick in the 2019 draft and looks like a back-end starter at best according to his scouting reports. He recorded a 3.64 ERA in nine starts for Triple-A Salt Lake this season, though that came with a modest 19.3 percent strikeout rate. He's pitched almost exclusively as a starter in the minors, but it looks like he'll be a reliever for now, as the Angels don't have a hole in their rotation at the moment.

The Angels reassigned Daniel to their minor-league camp Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Though he netted an invitation for big-league camp, Daniel wasn't a realistic candidate to break camp with the Angels with a number of other pitchers ahead of him in the pecking order for back-end spots in the club's six-man rotation. Still, Daniel will be a pitcher worth tracking as he likely heads back to Triple-A Salt Lake to begin 2022. Though his initial taste of the Triple-A level didn't go well last season -- he gave up 24 earned runs on 37 hits (including seven home runs) over 21 innings -- the 24-year-old righty was dominant for Double-A Rocket City (2.68 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 66:8 K:BB in 47 frames) prior to his promotion to Salt Lake.

Daniel will serve as a non-roster invitee during spring training in 2022.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel advanced to Triple-A Salt Lake in 2021, but he faced some struggles against the improved competition. The right-hander made five appearances (four starts) and posted a 10.29 ERA and 2.05 WHIP in 21 innings. He'll now have a chance to develop with the big-league coaching staff this spring and will likely be in the mix to make his major-league debut at some point in 2022 as long as he can display improved results at the Triple-A level.
