The veteran backstop will rejoin the Red Sox on Thursday, but since he's on the 60-day disabled list, he's not eligible to be activated until August 17 at the earliest.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said Wednesday that David Ross (concussion) has "had three or four really good days consecutively here." Ross is with his family in Florida but has been able to exercise on an elliptical and stationary bike and also do some throwing. "He's still got next Tuesday as a follow up with Dr. Collins in Pittsburgh," Farrell said. "His scheduled return for us is undecided right now."
