Peterson will be recalled to start one half of Tuesday's doubleheader against Atlanta, though the Mets have yet to specify which game, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Peterson has made two starts and one relief appearance for the Mets this season, allowing just one run on nine hits in 14 innings of work despite an unimpressive 18.9 percent strikeout rate. Trevor Williams picked up the team's most recent spot start in late April, but it looks as though Peterson will be the preferred option Tuesday.

Peterson was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Peterson allowed just one run over 5.2 innings in Friday's victory over the Diamondbacks -- the only run he has surrendered through 14 innings this season. However, with Peterson unavailable until sometime next week, the Mets decided to remove him from the roster and open up a spot for reliever Adonis Medina. Given how he has pitched thus far, Peterson's stay in the minors figures to be a short one.

Peterson didn't factor into the decision during Friday's 6-5 win over Arizona, allowing one run on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 5.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Pitching for a second straight time against the Diamondbacks, Peterson fared nearly as well despite surrendering his first run of the season but was left unsatisfied when the bullpen blew a four-run lead. The 26-year-old has now allowed just one run in 14 innings this season while permitting 14 baserunners compared to 10 strikeouts. With an off day next week, manager Buck Showalter has opted to skip Peterson though that decision is made more difficult by another successful turn.

Peterson pitched 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out four in a 5-0 win Sunday against Arizona. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Peterson did not allow a runner past second base in his first start of the season. The lefty wasn't exactly efficient, needing 80 pitches to get through 4.1 innings, but he got the job done. After not making the team out of spring training, the 26-year-old has pitched very well to start the season and has yet to allow a run in 8.1 innings. He is scheduled to start against the Diamondbacks again on Friday in Arizona.

Peterson will start Sunday against Arizona, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Peterson is the seventh starter on the Mets' depth chart and didn't even make the Opening Day roster, but he'll be needed already in the 10th game of the season after shoulder injuries to Jacob deGrom and Taijuan Walker. The lefty pitched four innings of scoreless relief after Walker exited his start Monday against the Phillies, so he's stretched out and on schedule for Sunday's outing. Through 24 career major-league starts and two relief appearances, Peterson owns a 4.49 ERA and 1.31 WHIP. He could get the chance to make multiple starts in place of Walker, who's expected to require a rehab outing.

Peterson threw four scoreless innings in relief of Taijuan Walker (shoulder) during Monday's 5-4 loss to the Phillies, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
Walker left the game after two innings, forcing Peterson into the game with the Mets holding a 3-0 lead. The southpaw was sharp, tossing 32 of 58 pitches for strikes, and he was in line for the win until the bullpen fell apart late. If Walker is forced to miss additional time, something that should become clearer after he undergoes an MRI on Tuesday, Peterson figures to be next in line to take his spot in the rotation.

Peterson was recalled from the taxi squad Saturday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Peterson was the team's final cut of spring training, but he'll be needed again right away with Edwin Diaz away on bereavement leave. Peterson may just be an extra bullpen arm for a few days until Diaz returns this time around, but he has the potential to enter the rotation later in the season if more Mets starters get injured.

The Mets optioned Peterson to Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Peterson was the Mets' final cut of spring training. His demotion to the minors was foreshadowed Wednesday, when manager Buck Showalter confirmed that No. 5 starter Tylor Megill would get the ball in Thursday's season opener versus the Nationals. With ace Jacob deGrom (shoulder) beginning the season on the IL, Peterson looks to be viewed as the No. 7 starter on the organizational depth chart. The 26-year-old lefty will thus likely need at least two other members of the rotation to be sidelined before he gets a look as a starter with the big club.

Peterson could begin the season in the Mets' rotation despite giving up three home runs through 6.2 Grapefruit League innings.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw's 6:2 K:BB this spring looks good, but keeping the ball in the park was a serious issue for Peterson in 2021, and it doesn't look like he's solved it yet. Still, with Jacob deGrom (shoulder) already ruled out to begin the season and Max Scherzer (hamstring) now day-to-day, Peterson could find himself in the Opening Day rotation, making him a roster option in deep mixed and NL-only formats.

Peterson revealed Tuesday via his personal Instagram account that he underwent surgery to repair a fractured bone in his right foot, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Assuming the procedure went as anticipated, Peterson will have a chance to make it back from the 60-day injured list at some point in September, but he likely won't have enough time to build back up for a starting role. Before suffering the toe injury, Peterson made 15 starts for the Mets, posting a 2-6 record, 5.54 ERA and 1.40 WHIP.
