Hale was optioned back to the minors prior to Saturday's contest, George A. King of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Hale will head down to the minors after throwing 5.2 innings of long relief during Friday's game. In a corresponding move, Clint Frazier was recalled from Triple-A.

The Yankees selected Hale's contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Hale will offer the Yankees some length out of the bullpen after starting pitcher Sonny Gray failed to escape the third inning in Saturday's 11-0 loss. The 30-year-old right-hander has previously made three appearances in the big leagues this season, giving up six earned runs on 11 hits and four walks over eight frames.

Hale isn't expected to receive a promotion to the Yankees after the big club announced Double-A Trenton pitcher Jonathan Loaisiga would start Friday against the Rays, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though Hale has more extensive MLB experience than Loaisiga, the 30-year-old's 4.58 ERA and 6.1 K/9 in 186.2 career innings didn't inspire much confidence he would thrive in a starting role with the big club. The Yankees thus elected to give the younger, higher-upside Loaisiga the first crack at filling the opening in the rotation created by Masahiro Tanaka's (hamstrings) move to the disabled list. Hale will continue to make regular starts for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where has submitted a 4.69 ERA over 40.1 innings on the season.

Hale could be summoned from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to start the Yankees' series opener Friday against the Rays, Brendan Kuty of NJ.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Yankees have an opening in the rotation with Masahiro Tanaka (hamstring) in line to miss multiple starts, and it appears the choice to replace him for the first turn will be between Hale and 23-year-old right-hander Jonathan Loaisiga. While the younger Loaisiga has more perceived upside of the two, his six starts at Double-A Trenton might not qualify as enough experience for the Yankees to throw him into the rotation while the team competes for a playoff spot. Hale, meanwhile, offers a more seasoned option, though the fantasy ceiling is fairly low for a pitcher with a career 4.58 ERA and 6.1 K/9 in the majors. The 30-year-old right-hander doesn't have a spot on the 40-man roster, but the Yankees could easily shuttle Jordan Montgomery (elbow) to the 60-day disabled list to make room for Hale if they prefer to roll with him over Loaisiga.

Hale signed a minor-league deal with the Yankees on Saturday and will report to the club's Triple-A affiliate, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
After being DFA'd earlier in the week, Hale is returning to the Yankees on a minors pact. He is no longer a member of the 40-man roster, but his major league experience could make him a bullpen option for the Yankees later in the season if they need a fresh arm.

Hale was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Hale was cast off the team's 40-man roster in order to open up a spot for Clint Frazier, who was summoned to the big club in a corresponding move. The 30-year-old compiled a serviceable 3.60 ERA and 5:0 K:BB across five innings with he Yankees. He'll take a spin through waivers to determine where he'll report next.

Hale's contract was selected from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Hale just recently rejoined the organization after being designated for assignment twice already, but he'll make a return trip to the majors to replace Jordan Montgomery (elbow) on the active roster. Hale's role in the big-leagues has yet to be determined, though his experience as a starter certainly could help him land a temporary spot in the rotation. A.J. Cole also figures to be in the mix for starts while Montgomery is out.

Hale signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Hale originally signed a minor-league contract with New York back in January, but then went to the Twins after being designated for assignment. Following that brief stint with Minnesota, he'll return to the Yankees to act as an organizational depth piece with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Hale cleared outright waivers Monday and elected to become a free agent.
EDGE Analysis
Hale was designated for assignment by the Twins over the weekend. Rather than accept his outright assignment to Triple-A Rochester, Hale opted to hit the open market. He'll look to latch on elsewhere as organizational pitching depth.

Hale was claimed off waivers by the Twins on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Hale was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Monday, and it didn't take him long to find a new home. The right-hander acted primarily as a starter in the minors, though he had little success. In three starts with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Hale produced a 5.52 ERA and 1.69 WHIP. However, his 3.34 FIP suggests that he was pretty unlucky, so this could prove to be a savvy signing for Minnesota if he can turn his high-control approach into good on-field results.
